Chapter 486
Justin Evans stared at his phone, his eyes glazed.
He spoke into the receiver again. "What did you say?"
"Mr. Evans, we've been working so hard to partner with the Nora Research Institute."
"You already made the connection. Why didn't you say something sooner?"
"And this contract amount... only a fifty million quota per month?"
"Could you discuss with the client about increasing it? The price is negotiable."
"Their current unit price is incredibly favorable!"
"Mr. Evans, which high-level executive at the Nora Research Institute did you contact?"
"How did you secure such favorable terms?"
The legal department manager's voice was brimming with excitement.
Justin thought there was something wrong with his ears.
He was silent for a long moment before speaking. "Wait, what Nora Research Institute?"
"I have no idea about this..."
"Are you saying the client we signed with is the Nora Research Institute?"
"You're not mistaken?"
The legal department manager laughed. "How could I be mistaken?"
"It's written in black and white on the contract!"
"We've been working on this project recently. There's no way I'd misidentify the Nora Research Institute's company name."
"The electronic seal is already applied. It's absolutely certain!"
"Mr. Evans, you've accomplished a great feat!"
"About that quota we mentioned earlier, can it be increased?"
Justin was speechless.
He looked blankly at Evelyn Ross and instinctively repeated the question. "Can the quota be increased?"
Evelyn touched her chin.
"That needs to be discussed with our company's management."
"They should already be contacting you."
"But I have one condition. The contract must be signed today."
"Okay, alright."
Justin dazedly relayed the message to the legal department manager.
After hanging up, he still couldn't snap out of it.
He stared at Evelyn, his voice trembling. "Why did you say the Nora Research Institute is your company?"
"Could it be that you..."
Justin suddenly remembered his sister's surgery.
Evelyn had entered the operating room then.
The director had said only Nora could save his sister...
So...
Evelyn was Nora?!
Justin found the idea utterly absurd.
How could someone of Nora's stature be so young?!
Evelyn raised an eyebrow at him and linked arms with Alexander Vance.
"Let's go."
Alexander gave her a doting smile and glanced at Justin.
"Alright."
Justin watched their retreating figures, not moving for a long time.
He felt like he was dreaming!
He quickly pulled out his phone and called Mrs. Evans.
"Mom, did you know? Evelyn Ross is actually..."
Justin lowered his voice and cautiously looked around.
"She is Nora!"
"What?"
Mrs. Evans exclaimed in shock.
Hearing her astonishment, Justin finally felt a bit more balanced.
His own reaction earlier probably didn't seem as foolish now.
Evelyn was unaware that Justin had gone to Mrs. Evans for comfort.
She and Alexander left the Cartier boutique and went directly upstairs.
She planned to buy a few outfits for Chloe Davis.
Evelyn picked out several children's clothing sets and purchased them all.
As they walked, she suddenly pointed toward the men's section.
"That suit seems like it would suit you."
Alexander's heart immediately raced.
Here it comes, here it comes...
Evelyn was definitely going to buy him clothes.
Then, when paying, she would wish him a happy birthday...
He looked at Evelyn with anticipation.
"Really? Then let's..."
The words "go in and take a look" hadn't even left his mouth when Evelyn shook her head.
"No, that tie is too flashy. It doesn't suit your reserved style."
"Let's look further ahead."
Alexander hesitated. "Actually, I think it suits me quite well."
Evelyn glanced at him.
"Are you sure?"
Alexander fell silent.
He didn't know how to respond to that.
Evelyn pulled him forward.
"Don't force yourself to buy something you don't like."
"We're just browsing without a specific goal."
"That outfit doesn't match you. Let's forget it."
So this woman had truly forgotten his birthday?!
Infuriating!
Alexander took a deep breath, feeling a tightness in his chest.
He accompanied Evelyn through the second floor, then the third...
They went all the way up to the sixth floor, ready for dinner.
Evelyn showed no intention of buying him anything!
Alexander cleared his throat softly.
"I seem to be running out of clothes. Could you accompany me to buy a few pieces later?"
Since Evelyn had forgotten, he had to ask for it himself!
Evelyn replied, "You have seven or eight identical tracksuits stored at my place."
"How could you possibly be out of clothes?"
Alexander was speechless.
"I'm tired. I don't want to shop anymore. Let's go in and eat."
Alexander reluctantly followed Evelyn into the restaurant.
Outside the restaurant.
Justin, who had been secretly following them, peeked out from around the corner.
He stroked his chin.
Nora's current status truly didn't require an arranged marriage.
But that boy toy was clearly after her money!
He had just brazenly asked for a gift!
And tomorrow was Alexander Vance's birthday banquet.
Had Nora not prepared a birthday gift for her "fiancé"?
He needed to go and remind her!
