Chapter 490

Evelyn saw Ethan Valentine nearly jump out of his skin.

She raised an eyebrow. "I can't go?"

Ethan nodded immediately.

But Marcus Valentine suddenly approached.

He looked at Evelyn. "Grace, a word?"

Evelyn followed him to the side.

Marcus asked, "How is Mina?"

"She's fine."

Marcus's expression faltered.

The child really was his.

He remembered Mina desperately fighting to keep the pregnancy.

She loved this child.

She loved him too.

But she was doing fine now.

Did that mean she didn't love him anymore?

Marcus lowered his gaze.

He smiled bitterly.

He deserved this.

He brought it upon himself.

He patted Evelyn's shoulder. "Is she attending the banquet tonight?"

"No."

Mina was on bed rest.

Her large belly made it inconvenient.

She had cut ties with the Sherwood family.

She was divorced from Marcus.

Her presence would be awkward.

Marcus nodded. "Then I won't go either."

"Wish Alexander a happy birthday for me."

He turned and left.

He was heading toward the Nan family home.

Evelyn didn't stop him.

Marcus and Mina's issues were their own to resolve.

She had been angry he didn't claim the child.

Now she knew the Nan family had schemed against him.

She couldn't hold a grudge anymore.

She even felt guilty.

The Nan family targeted him.

Probably because of her.

Evelyn was lost in thought when Mr.Valentine, along with the eldest and second uncle couples, emerged.

Mr.Valentine looked at her. "Ready? Let's go."

Evelyn nodded.

A procession of six cars set off.

Evelyn rode with Mr.Valentine.

She glanced at the driver.

She wanted to ask if he was trustworthy.

Mr.Valentine spoke first. "The drivers are all trusted aides."

"Our lives are in their hands."

Evelyn understood.

She said directly, "There's a mole in the Valentine family."

She shared her suspicions.

Finally, she asked, "Who do you think it is?"

She had ruled out Ethan Valentine and Charles Valentine.

She knew them well from their interactions.

Mr.Valentine glanced at her. "The other four wouldn't do it either."

Evelyn paused. "That much trust?"

"Yes."

Mr.Valentine said, "The Valentine family doesn't have internal strife."

"There never has been, and there never will be."

"The seven brothers grew up together."

"They trust each other with their lives."

Evelyn nodded. "If it's not them…"

She frowned.

Mr.Valentine spoke again. "I will investigate."

"You don't need to worry about it."

"There are many servants."

"Plenty of people had access to that medical report."

Evelyn nodded.

She trusted him.

They fell silent for a moment.

Suddenly, they both thought of something at the same time.

Evelyn looked at Mr.Valentine. "There's one more suspicious person."

Mr.Valentine raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

Evelyn said a name.

Mr.Valentine sneered. "I'll look into it immediately."

The motorcade arrived at the Vance estate.

The Vance Manor was located on the Fifth Avenue.

It was imposing and grand.

It rivaled the old Vance mansion in San Francisco.

When the Valentine cars arrived, the Vance estate was already full of guests.

Alexander Vance wasn't present.

Julian Evans was greeting guests at the door.

He looked terrible.

After coming to New York, he had visited Isabella at the psychiatric hospital.

She had gone insane.

She rushed over, begging for mercy.

She knelt, admitting her mistakes.

She said she would never dare deceive him again.

She looked worse than death.

Julian felt no sympathy.

He thought of what she had done to Evelyn.

He thought about how she always knew she was a love child.

She had deceived him.

She made him lose Evelyn.

He wished he could kill her.

If he hadn't cared about social status back then.

If he hadn't given up on Evelyn.

Would he be happy now?

Julian looked desolate.

He had truly loved Evelyn.

He pursued her for four years in college.

She had been gone for four months.

He couldn't forget her.

His love was no less than his uncle's.

Thinking about his uncle's fiancée arriving, Julian felt displeased.

Evelyn had only been gone for four months.

His uncle had already moved on.

How could he betray her like this?

Julian clenched his fists.

He had no good feelings toward the Valentine heiress.

The gatekeeper announced the Valentine family's arrival.

Julian intentionally did not announce them properly.

A family like the Valentines required his parents, or his uncle, to greet them.

Perhaps even Elder Eleanor Vance herself.

That would be面子 enough.

He didn't want to give them that.

He sneered.

Penelope Valentine suddenly walked over.

She smiled. "You're Julian Evans?"

Julian paused.

Penelope said, "I'm a adopted daughter of the Valentine family."

"You must have heard of me."

Julian nodded.

Penelope continued, "I'd like to talk to you."

"It's about Grace Nan having a boy toy on the side."

Julian was stunned. "Who did you say?!"

Evelyn?
