Chapter 507

Jane immediately waved her hand.

John also spoke up. "It's fine. The matter is already resolved. The Evans family won't cause us any more trouble."

Nathan was stunned. He frowned and asked, "Resolved? How? They would just let you off that easily?"

He sighed. "Jane, don't think too highly of people. I know those Evans men. Justin and Jason are both terrible."

His face filled with indignation. "Jason has bullied so many people at the Cortez Sect. I heard he almost assaulted a girl not long ago. Justin is even worse. He acts like the crown prince of New York, looking down on everyone. His private life is a complete mess. Not long ago, he even slandered Mrs. Valentine's reputation... Do you know who Mrs. Valentine is? She's Marcus Valentine's wife, that young lady from the Sherwood family."

Nathan, also part of the wealthy social circle, sighed as he brought this up. "That young lady from the Sherwood family already had a precarious position within her own family. After his slander, her life with the Valentines became even harder. Because of this, everyone started doubting whether her child was really Marcus's. Marcus is even talking about divorce now... Oh, and Mina Sherwood's baby was lost because of all this..."

Jane listened, her lips pressed into a tight line.

She lowered her head, clenching her fists.

John sighed heavily.

Nathan continued. "And your brother. I heard from the neighbor that his leg was broken by Jason? Do you think Jason would dare do that on his own? Because Jason is Justin's lackey! Without Justin's tacit approval, would Jason dare run wild like that?"

He shook his head gently, then looked at Jane. "So don't think this is really over. It's not. Someone as narrow-minded and vindictive as Justin will definitely remember this. He definitely has more tricks up his sleeve!"

Nathan took a step forward, his face full of concern as he looked at John. "Why don't you both come with me? Stay at my place. My family isn't some major dynasty, but at least Justin wouldn't dare barge into my home to bully people. My mother is a distant cousin of Mrs. Evans... technically, she's his elder... although he's never shown her an ounce of respect since he was a child."

The more Jane listened, the darker her expression became.

She looked at Nathan with disbelief, picked up her notebook, and wrote. "Is everything you said true?"

Nathan was taken aback. "What?"

Jane wrote. "What you just said about the Sherwood and Valentine families? Justin was involved in causing trouble?"

Nathan nodded. "Yes."

Jane clenched her fists, her eyes filled with disappointment.

She slowly lowered her head.

After a long moment, she sighed and waved at Nathan, writing. "You should go back first. I'm really fine. I want to rest."

Nathan wanted to say more, but John, sensing Jane's mood, spoke to him. "You should go. Don't worry about our family matters."

Nathan looked at them, hesitating for a while before reluctantly nodding. "Alright, I'll go then. Jane, get some rest. I'll come see you another day."

Jane nodded.

Nathan stared at her, still worried. "Jane, are you really okay? You don't look well. Let me take you to the hospital!"

John spoke up. "We just came back from the hospital. If there was anything wrong, the doctor would have said so! No need for that!"

Nathan hesitated again. "No, it's not that, John. I'm just worried about Jane... Maybe I should stay here. I'm afraid Justin might come back!"

Seeing his genuine concern, John couldn't help but say, "It's fine. He won't trouble us."

Nathan waved his hand. "No, no. Do you think just because he forced Jane to jump off a building, it's over? It's not. Justin is vicious. Even after that, he won't let you off..."

As he was speaking, a voice suddenly came from the doorway. "Um..."

Nathan whipped his head around. Seeing Justin standing at the door, he stumbled back in fright. Instinctively, he moved to shield Jane, spreading his arms protectively in front of her. He stared at Justin in terror. "Y-you... what are you doing here again? Justin, I'm telling you, my mother is your mother's distant cousin. Our families are somewhat related. D-don't you dare do anything..."

Justin stared at him, slightly taken aback. "You're... Nathan White?"

"Y-yes! That's me!"

Nathan showed some backbone. Even though he was terrified, he didn't move aside. "I'm telling you, don't even think about bullying Jane again!"

Justin: "..."

He almost rolled his eyes.

He took a step forward.

Nathan immediately went weak in the knees, as if remembering Justin's cruel methods. His whole body trembled, a picture of sheer terror.

John couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth.

He looked at Justin, his attitude unfriendly. "What are you doing here?"

Facing John, Justin felt some guilt, but more than that, he felt hostility.

When they were children, because he and his sister were closest in age, they had the best relationship. They often made pinky promises. When their older brothers bullied him, his sister always stood up for him.

So Justin's feelings for this sister ran the deepest.

Therefore, while he was grateful to John for saving his sister, the thought that John had taken his sister's affection, that she now only acknowledged this one brother, filled Justin with an uncontrollable jealousy.

He couldn't help but retort. "Why can't I come?"

John frowned. "This is my home. You're not welcome."

Justin sneered. "You say I'm not welcome, so I can't come? Well, I'm here. What are you going to do about it?"

"You..."

John was also angered by his shamelessness.

He fell silent.

Nathan, however, looked at Justin, suddenly grabbed a nearby broom, and said, "Justin, I'm telling you, don't even think about bullying Jane anymore. I'll protect her today! You get out of here now, or... or I won't be polite!"

Justin took another step forward. "And how exactly do you plan to be 'not polite'?"

This forward movement directly scared Nathan. His hand went limp, the broom clattered to the floor, and he crouched down, covering his head and trembling. "Don't hit me! Don't hit me!"

Seeing this, Justin scoffed. He spoke directly to Nathan. "I'm not here today to bully Jane. And I won't bully her in the future either."

Nathan looked up, incredulous. "How is that possible? Do you think I'd believe that?"

Justin took a deep breath and said, "Do you know what my relationship with Jane is?"
