Chapter 600

Evelyn looked up at Alexander, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Why do you say that?"

A faint smile touched Alexander's lips, a hint of something deeper flashing in his eyes.

"Intuition."

Evelyn fell silent for a moment.

She had thought the man might have seen a photo of her mother when she was young.

But the picture she had on her phone was of Sophia in her forties.

Even if she showed it to Elder Castillo, he probably wouldn't recognize her.

Westerners often had difficulty distinguishing between Eastern faces.

The two returned to the Valentine residence, their minds heavy with thoughts.

As soon as they entered, they saw the living room was full of people.

Uncle Valentine, Second Uncle Valentine and their families were there, along with several of the Valentine brothers.

Seeing them return, everyone stood up in unison.

Uncle Valentine was the first to speak.

"Grace, any leads on the antidote?"

Looking at their faces, each etched with worry, Evelyn felt a stir in her heart.

No matter how many storms they weathered, no matter how much Susan tried to sow discord, these Valentines always stood together.

They had argued and cried, but the bonds of blood could never truly be severed.

Evelyn had never really understood the concept of "family" before.

Even after reuniting with her mother, Sophia, they hadn't had many peaceful days together.

Now, feeling this warmth, a surge of heat rose within her.

She shook her head gently.

"We didn't catch the person."

A wave of disappointment filled the living room.

But Uncle Valentine still offered comfort.

"It's alright. We'll find a way. If anything really happens to our third brother, the Valentines will have it out with the Castillos!"

Second Uncle Valentine immediately nodded.

"That's right! Third brother has worked tirelessly for the family all these years. Let him rest properly these few days."

Marcus spoke up.

"Don't worry too much. Third Uncle will be fine."

Ethan clenched his fist.

"If all else fails, I'll go kidnap Anthony Castillo! If the old man won't give us the antidote, I'll make him pay!"

Second Uncle Valentine scolded sharply.

"Nonsense! We are law-abiding citizens. How can we do such a thing!"

The living room was noisy, yet warm.

Evelyn's eyes grew slightly red.

She took a deep breath and looked at everyone.

"Uncle, Second Uncle, brothers, Spencer, please rest assured. My father will be fine."

She secretly tightened her fist.

Tomorrow, she would go take the DNA test and try her luck.

If she wasn't Elder Castillo's granddaughter... she still had other methods!

A cold glint flashed in Evelyn's eyes.

She turned and went upstairs, entering Mr. Valentine's bedroom.

Mr. Valentine lay quietly in bed, his face peaceful as if merely asleep.

If one didn't know he was poisoned and unconscious, nothing seemed amiss.

Evelyn sat by the bed and took her father's hand.

"Dad, don't worry. I won't let you leave me."

She picked up her phone and quickly sent several messages.

Soon, replies popped up one after another.

[Received!]

[Boss, received!]

[Received!]

Looking at the words on the screen, Evelyn's gaze grew even more resolute.

She had originally planned to follow the Sterling Family's tasks step by step.

But now, she no longer wanted to be passive.

She would take the initiative!

...

Early the next morning, it was the day scheduled for the DNA test with Elder Castillo.

Evelyn and Alexander quietly left the Valentine house without alerting anyone.

Just as they stepped out, they saw Grace waiting outside.

She had changed out of her uniform into casual clothes.

Seeing them, she approached.

"I'm coming with you."

Evelyn was taken aback.

Grace's expression was serious.

"I am, after all, from the Special Operations Division. My presence might make them behave. If necessary, my words can serve as evidence. And if it comes to it... we can take necessary measures."

Evelyn wanted to refuse.

She couldn't let Grace compromise her principles.

Before she could speak, Grace said firmly, "Let me go. I don't want to hear about something happening to you afterwards and feel powerless again."

Evelyn pressed her lips together.

Finally, she gave a firm nod.

"Alright."

The group soon arrived at the Castillo residence.

The main gate was open.

Elder Castillo and Anthony were personally waiting at the entrance.

Nicole stood to the side with her arms crossed, her face full of mockery.

"Elder Castillo, I told you. Grace Valentine is lying to you. See? They don't even dare to show up!"

Natalie immediately retorted.

"You shut up!"

Nicole glanced at her.

"Weren't you kicked out by the old man? Why are you still here?"

Natalie's face stiffened as she looked at Elder Castillo.

Elder Castillo said calmly, "Once today's DNA results are out, I will naturally deal with those who shouldn't stay."

Nicole scoffed.

"Those who shouldn't stay... Elder, you're not referring to me, are you? Yesterday she brought people to arrest me, but still had to let me go obediently, didn't she?"

She took a step forward, closing in on Elder Castillo.

"Today, I'll let you see for yourself whether she's lying or not!"

As she spoke, she looked at her watch—it was already ten in the morning.

Nicole laughed again.

"It's this late already. Your equipment has been ready for a while. Could it be she's not coming?"

Her words had barely fallen when the sound of a car engine came from the gate!

A black G-Wagon slowly came to a stop.

Alexander got out and opened the door.

Evelyn strode forward.
