Chapter 607

When Grace Lorenz asked that question, Evelyn Ross simply smiled faintly.

Before she could speak, Grace continued, "It's normal if you don't know. Ethan Valentine definitely knows. I'll call him over right now."

After saying this, she waved towards Ethan Valentine, who was directing the cleanup in the distance.

Ethan held a special position within the Cortez Sect. He not only managed internal affairs but also liaised with the Special Operations Division. He and Grace had become acquainted after she arrived in New York.

Ethan walked over quickly. "Captain Lorenz, what is it?"

Grace got straight to the point. "You should know who the First Senior Sister is, right? Take us to see her. We need to clarify the matter of borrowing personnel from the Cortez Sect today to avoid any misunderstandings when the First Senior Sister returns."

Ethan was taken aback. He instinctively glanced at Evelyn, then back at Grace. "Are you joking with me?"

Grace was confused. "What?"

Ethan pointed at Evelyn, his tone matter-of-fact. "The First Senior Sister is right here. It was the young mistress who mobilized the people today."

Grace whipped her head around, staring at Evelyn in disbelief. "You are the Cortez Sect's First Senior Sister?"

Evelyn gave a slight nod.

Grace still found it absurd. "But your constitution... you faint so easily..."

Back in San Francisco, when she had been ordered to arrest Evelyn, Evelyn had never resisted. How could she possibly be the Cortez Sect's First Senior Sister?

Seeing her reaction, Ethan chuckled. "After the First Senior Sister entered the Family Shrine, we updated the roster. We were just about to submit it to you."

He took out his phone, tapped a few times, and looked up. "Sent to your email. Remember to update your department's records."

Grace numbly pulled out her phone and opened the file sent from the Cortez Sect's official email. It clearly stated:

Cortez Sect First Senior Sister: Grace Valentine.

She stared at the screen for a long time before slowly looking up, her gaze complex as she regarded Evelyn. "I truly never expected... Since that's the case, there's no issue with today's events. I'm going to interrogate Nicole Sterling now. Will you come with me, or are you heading back to the Valentine family first?"

Evelyn didn't hesitate. "Back to the Valentine family first. To save my father."

Mr. Valentine was still lying on his sickbed, his life hanging by a thread. She knew her priorities.

Grace nodded. "Alright."

She turned to arrange for the Cortez Sect personnel to leave with her.

Evelyn watched her calm retreating back and couldn't help whispering to Alexander Vance, "Do you think she believes it or not? Her reaction is just too composed."

Back at the Special Operations Division, Grace had spoken of the First Senior Sister with eyes full of admiration. Now, the real person was right in front of her, yet she was as calm as still water.

Alexander shook his head with a wry smile.

Evelyn didn't dwell on it further. The two quickly got into the car and rushed back to the Valentine family with the antidote given by the old Mr. Castillo.

Going upstairs and entering Mr. Valentine's bedroom, Alexander took out the antidote, but his movements suddenly halted.

He looked at Evelyn.

Evelyn was also looking at him.

Their eyes met. Evelyn spoke softly, "Don't you think obtaining this antidote was... too easy?"

Alexander immediately nodded. "I feel the same way. Something's off."

Even if the antidote came from old Mr. Castillo, if it had been tampered with even slightly, it could instantly become a lethal poison.

Evelyn frowned, looking at the unconscious Mr. Valentine, her heart torn.

Should she administer this medicine or not?

Alexander was silent for a moment, then suddenly asked, "If Nicole Sterling isn't the Fox, then who is?"

Evelyn took a deep breath. "Susan Langley insisted Nicole is the Fox. Clearly, someone set up a situation to make her misunderstand. The goal was to make us fight Nicole while they reaped the benefits."

Her gaze fell on the medicine bottle in Alexander's hand. "And this antidote... Do you remember my eldest brother's oligospermia?"

Alexander nodded. "I remember. What about it?"

Evelyn analyzed, "Back then, the test results from all the hospitals were the same. Later, all those doctors went abroad for research and haven't returned. If the person who harmed my brother back then was the Fox, it means her status in the medical field is extremely high, high enough to make all those doctors give the same story. And medicine and poison are two sides of the same coin..."

Alexander understood instantly. "You suspect the Seven-Day Scatter was made by the Fox?"

"Yes."

Evelyn's voice was low. "My deep connection to the Valentine family is because of my father. If it was the antidote I brought that caused my father to die from the poison, do you think my brothers would ever forgive me?"

Alexander's eyes sharpened. "Killing two birds with one stone."

Evelyn nodded. "But this is just speculation. Maybe this antidote is genuine..."

Alexander said decisively, "There are still four days left before the seven-day limit. We can afford to wait a little longer."

After taking the first dose of poison, taking the antidote within seven days can still neutralize it, with minimal damage to the body. Time wasn't that pressing.

Evelyn carefully stored the medicine bottle close to her body. "I'm going to the Special Operations Division."

Alexander immediately said, "I'll go with you."

When they arrived at the Special Operations Division, Grace was just coming out of an interrogation room. Seeing them, she was surprised. "Why are you here? Is Mr. Valentine alright?"

Evelyn gave a vague affirmation. "Hmm. Has Nicole Sterling confessed?"

"Not yet."

As Grace spoke, she led them towards the room where Nicole was being held.

Just as they reached the door, Evelyn and Alexander exchanged a glance. Their expressions changed drastically. They pushed the door open and rushed into the interrogation room!

Hearing the commotion, Nicole looked up. Seeing their anxious faces, she suddenly laughed. "Looking at you like this... you gave Mr. Valentine the antidote? Hahaha... Seven-Day Scatter. Taking the wrong antidote causes immediate death! Evelyn Ross, you didn't expect that, did you?"
