Chapter 628

King immediately lunged forward.

Ethan Valentine was agile, using feints and pulls, quickly exhausting King until he was panting heavily.

But Ethan didn't gain much advantage.

King's muscles were simply too dense.

Even when Ethan found an opening and landed a punch, it felt like he was merely scratching an itch for King, utterly insignificant.

To defeat him, one either needed to be nimble enough to dizzy him, or possess greater raw strength.

Ethan grew more excited as the fight went on, even starting to believe he might win without Leo Wright needing to step in.

Then, he spotted a flaw in King's defense.

He immediately leapt forward, grabbing King's shoulder, seemingly ready to throw him out of the arena.

Stepping out of bounds meant defeat.

The spectators erupted in cheers.

"He's going to win! He's going to win!"

Leo's eyes widened with excitement.

Only Evelyn Ross sighed quietly.

Grace Lorenz quickly asked, "What's wrong?"

"He's about to lose."

Evelyn frowned.

Her third brother was too impatient.

That opening was clearly a trap King had set to lure him in.

If Ethan had stayed calm and not taken the bait, perhaps after another ten minutes of maneuvering, King's stamina would have been truly depleted, securing the win.

But with Leo as his backup, Ethan's courage had swelled.

He knew it might be a trap, yet he still jumped in.

Just as Evelyn thought this, Leo sneered beside her.

"What nonsense are you talking about? He clearly has the upper hand! Aren't you the Cortez Sect's closed-door disciple? Your martial arts seem rather mediocre if you can't even see that. I think you should go home and train for a few more years before showing your face."

Grace wanted to retort, but remembering Leo would soon take the stage, she swallowed her words.

She looked at Evelyn. "Don't take his words to heart."

Evelyn shook her head slightly.

Leo laughed coldly.

"Some people, relying on being from the Valentine family, probably used connections to enter the Cortez Sect, right? Your skills don't seem impressive either... You should spend more time learning from the First Senior Sister! She's so formidable. As an inner disciple, you can't even understand a simple match. Don't you find it embarrassing?"

The next moment, on the arena, after Ethan grabbed King's shoulder, King suddenly spun around.

He reversed his grip, seizing Ethan's arm, and hurled him outward.

Ethan!

Ethan was thrown uncontrollably out of the arena by King.

Thud!

He rolled on the ground to dissipate the force, landing flat.

He then pushed off with his feet and sprang up.

"Damn it, I fell for it!"

The crowd was stunned.

Leo subconsciously glanced at Evelyn in disbelief.

Grace was also bewildered. "Evelyn, you actually guessed right!"

A guess?

Leo felt that guessing alone couldn't be so accurate.

He was about to ask something when Ethan jogged over, dejected.

"I actually lost. What a pity. Leo, it's up to you now! King's stamina is at its limit. He can't possibly hold on any longer."

Leo nodded.

Everyone could see King was spent.

To defeat Ethan, he had even knelt on one knee in the arena, gasping for breath.

Leo immediately stepped onto the platform.

"Let me end this match!"

But the next moment...

The International Division's director called out, "Wait a moment."

Everyone turned to look.

The director smiled. "King needs to replenish his stamina."

After saying this, he walked into the arena.

He then took a nutrient supplement from his pocket and handed it to King.

King directly injected the supplement into his bloodstream.

He then flexed his muscles and joints.

His entire condition instantly changed.

The previous exhaustion vanished completely.

He returned to peak condition, even... seemingly stronger than before.

Ethan below was dumbfounded.

"What did you give him? A stimulant?"

The director handed him the remaining residue.

"It's a nutrient supplement we developed ourselves. It can instantly restore a person's stamina. It fully complies with all regulations and is not a banned substance. Technology is part of strength too. Someone taught me that. I believe King injecting a nutrient supplement isn't against the rules, is it?"

It indeed wasn't...

Many fighters eat or drink during breaks to replenish energy. How could that be a violation?

Ethan clenched his fists, looking worriedly at Leo.

Against a King at peak condition, forget Leo; even if both of them fought together, they could at best achieve a draw.

They had just worn him down, and now they had to start all over again?!

Ethan sighed, walking to Leo's side.

He lowered his voice. "Don't push yourself too hard. Just do your best. We still have someone as a safety net."

But Leo's eyes sharpened.

"I must win this match!!"
