Chapter 666
Evelyn's gaze fell on Natalie.
Natalie gave her a push, her chin held high, her face full of smugness.
"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and show them what you've got! Let these people with their noses in the air have a good look!"
Evelyn was speechless.
Her aggressive stance indeed left both Victoria and Cecilia momentarily stunned.
They both turned to look at Evelyn, their eyes filled with shock and doubt.
"You... you're really N?"
Before Evelyn could speak, Alexander cut in coldly.
"Whether she is N or not has nothing to do with you, Miss Chen. Butler, see our guest out."
The butler immediately stepped forward, positioning himself beside Victoria.
But Victoria stared fixedly at Alexander, her misty eyes brimming with tears.
She looked utterly heartbroken, her neck stiff as she demanded, "Alexander Vance, I just want to ask you one thing. Do you... do you really have no feelings for me at all?"
She took a step closer, her voice trembling.
"We studied abroad together. We returned to the country together. All these years of shared history... can they really not compare to a Miss Ross?"
Hearing this, Evelyn immediately raised an eyebrow, her gaze shifting to Alexander.
Before she could speak, Natalie behind her had already jumped in to attack.
"Mr. Vance, what is the meaning of this? You'd better explain yourself clearly! What 'shared history of studying abroad'? Do you have some unclear relationship with this Miss Chen? How can you face my cousin?"
Evelyn's mouth twitched.
She was about to speak when Alexander's face darkened, and he directly explained.
"I have no relationship with her whatsoever. As for studying abroad together? We were indeed students in the same year. Returning to the country together... I recall there were over twenty graduates on that flight back then. Miss Chen, may I ask, what special bond exists between us?"
Natalie immediately feigned sudden understanding, drawing out her tone.
"Ohhh—so someone here has been indulging in wishful thinking!"
Alexander's expression turned even colder.
"Have you had enough fun? It's time to wrap this up."
He was about to give the order when Victoria suddenly shrieked.
"Alexander Vance, don't you regret this!"
Then, she shot Evelyn a venomous glare.
Evelyn simply felt baffled—she wasn't the one who had wronged Victoria, so why glare at her?
As she was thinking this, she saw Victoria turn to Cecilia, gritting her teeth.
"Cecilia, that matter you mentioned before... I agree."
Cecilia's face instantly lit up with joy, and she immediately shot Richard a meaningful look.
Richard let out a hearty laugh and stood up.
"Good, good! If Alexander doesn't appreciate you, our Vance family does!"
Upon hearing this, Victoria lifted her chin even higher, looking at Evelyn with a challenging gaze.
Evelyn was utterly confused.
She paused, looking at Richard, then at Victoria, before suddenly speaking.
"So... from now on, I should call you sister-in-law?"
Victoria's face darkened.
Richard also started coughing violently.
Evelyn then looked at Alexander.
"Your sister-in-law... she hasn't divorced your elder brother yet, right?"
Alexander cooperatively nodded.
"Not yet. So, elder brother, are you planning to take a second wife?"
Richard was livid, his face turning ashen.
Beside him, Robert Vance stood up abruptly.
"Nonsense! What rubbish are you spouting! This is a match for Julian!"
Evelyn's lips twitched.
She looked at Victoria.
"So, Miss Chen will be my niece-in-law from now on? Then what should you call me?"
Victoria clenched her fists.
Alexander spoke calmly from the side.
"Miss Chen excelled in etiquette classes back in the day. Surely she hasn't forgotten her manners?"
Victoria gritted her teeth, forcing two words out from between them.
"Uncle. Aunt."
"Yes."
Evelyn responded, thinking to herself that this Victoria was simply insane—coming here to become her niece-in-law, what was with that challenging look earlier?
As she was pondering this, Natalie had already circled around her and skipped over to Victoria with a grin.
"Oh my, oh my! On behalf of my cousin, I'll give you a welcome gift, niece-in-law! If you had said earlier you fancied Julian, you wouldn't have needlessly lowered your own generation. Who wouldn't be happy about such a good thing?"
She rummaged in her pocket, only pulling out a few sunflower seed shells, which she stuffed into Victoria's hand.
"Sorry about that, I was in a hurry when I left. This is all I have on me today."
Victoria was speechless.
Everyone else was speechless.
After delivering her "gift," Natalie cheerfully bounced back to Evelyn's side.
Evelyn was at a loss for words.
Sometimes she really couldn't tell if this girl was helping her stand up for herself or digging a pit for her.
Natalie's actions always carried a hint of mischief, making her hard to read.
She was still looking at Natalie when Victoria took a deep breath, suppressing her anger.
Cecilia immediately spoke up.
"Dad, since Julian is getting married, and to a socialite like Victoria... I think... shouldn't we ask Great-Grandmother to allocate some shares to Julian?"
Hearing this, Alexander's eyes instantly darkened.
So their target was still the shares!
Evelyn also frowned.
Alexander turned directly.
"I'm going to check on Grandmother."
Evelyn immediately followed.
Seeing this, Natalie also tagged along like a little tail.
Evelyn frowned.
"Why are you following?"
"I'm following you. That way, you'll know what I'm up to every day, so you won't always think I'm scheming behind your back!"
Evelyn ignored her and turned to Alexander.
"Is Grandmother... has something happened?"
Alexander lowered his gaze, his voice low.
"Grandmother is perfectly lucid now. It's just... she's old. The doctor says... her time is running out."
