Chapter 673

Julian Evans and Margaret Evans froze simultaneously.

They had long known Richard Evans favored the woman on the outside and doted on that love child, but they never expected that, right in front of his own son, he would choose Cecilia Evans without a moment's hesitation.

A faint smile touched Cecilia's lips, then vanished quickly.

She spoke softly, "Dad, don't say things in anger. Brother is the one who can carry on the Evans family line. Brother, please apologize quickly! Dad is just trying to scare you!"

Julian stared coldly at Cecilia, his jaw tight.

He let out a derisive laugh.

"A father like this? I don't want him."

Cecilia immediately raised her voice.

"How can you say that? Dad has such high hopes for you, it's all for your own good... You're breaking his heart!"

"High hopes? The thing I've heard most since I was a child is his belittlement! In his eyes, I'm just trash! A useless thing!"

Julian gave a bitter laugh.

"If that's the case, why does he even keep me around?"

Margaret also began to sob.

"Yes, in your heart, this love child is a thousand times better than us! But we are your family too! I am your lawfully wedded wife! My family had status back then. I've endured humiliation and stayed with you all these years, Richard Evans. You have no conscience!"

Cecilia quickly interjected, "Auntie, please don't say that about Dad. Dad and my mother truly loved each other. It was you who came between them, forcing Dad to marry you..."

"Shut up!" Margaret roared.

"If he had absolutely no feelings for me, would I have married him with hope in my heart?! Richard Evans, search your soul! Was it not you who personally came to my family to propose? Was it not you who begged to marry me? You just wanted to compete with Alexander Vance! Because my family could give you greater support! As for that mistress, what is she?!"

"Now my family has declined, we can't compare to the Evans family anymore, so you want to kick us to the curb, right? Let me tell you, no way! Even if I die in the Evans house, I will never make room for that tramp!"

Cecilia frowned.

"Auntie, how can you accuse Dad like this? Dad has his own difficulties too!"

She turned to look at Richard, whose face was livid with anger, and softened her voice further.

"Dad, Mom has never blamed you. She says being with you in this lifetime, she has no regrets. Me too, even though I'm just an unacknowledged love child, being able to be your daughter makes me so happy. I really don't understand what Auntie and Brother Julian are so hung up on? If you could also find a good man like Victoria Lawrence for me, I'd be endlessly grateful... Perhaps someone has been stirring things up, making them always think you're trying to harm them..."

These words instantly ignited Richard's protective instincts.

He spoke directly, "Cecilia, don't worry. Once these two are gone, I'll bring your mother and you home! I will marry your mother openly and make you the rightful Miss Evans!"

Cecilia's eyes reddened.

"Dad, Mom and I really don't care about that... As long as we are in your heart, that's enough."

She looked back at Julian and Margaret, her tone earnest.

"Auntie, Brother, what you have is what my mother and I have always dreamed of. Please cherish it, okay?"

Julian listened to this masterfully manipulative speech, fury burning in his chest, unable to utter a single word.

Margaret cried even harder, gasping for breath.

Evelyn Ross and Alexander Vance watched quietly from the side, exchanging a glance.

At this moment, Evelyn suddenly understood why Julian hated love children so much.

Cecilia's performance was truly masterful. With just a few words, she had Richard's heart firmly in her grasp. On the surface, it seemed casual, but every sentence subtly conveyed admiration and defense of Richard, stoking his protective urges to the extreme.

It was no wonder Julian had been overshadowed by this love child for so many years.

As Evelyn was thinking this, Alexander suddenly leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Mrs. Vance, what skillful maneuvering."

Evelyn raised an eyebrow at him.

Alexander chuckled softly.

"Stirring up their internal strife. Now Victoria Lawrence won't be entering the family, and we're extricated from this mess."

Evelyn smiled but said nothing.

She was no saint. She would never forgive Julian's past betrayal. Her earlier provocation to make him see clearly did indeed have this intention.

See? Their own family was fighting amongst themselves. Who would still have time to bother her and Alexander?

However, Julian and Margaret's combat skills were too weak. Watching them, even she, a bystander, felt the urge to interject.

Hold back. She must hold back.

Just as Evelyn was thinking this to herself, Richard had been completely brainwashed by Cecilia.

He was now pointing at Julian and Margaret, furious, and roared towards the door:

"Fine! You have no respect for me, is that it? Then get out! The Evans family doesn't welcome you!"

"Margaret Evans, you don't want a divorce? Let me tell you, it's not up to you! I'll have a lawyer draft the divorce agreement right now!"

He glared at Julian.

"And you, you ungrateful son! Want to break free from me? Fine, I'll let you go! Let's see what kind of pathetic state you'll be in without the Evans family!"

Richard's final roar echoed.

"Get out—!"
