Chapter 735

Evelyn Ross turned sharply, her gaze locking onto Natalie Castillo.

Her grandfather had mentioned the Sterling Family's ability to glimpse the future, but she had always been half-skeptical.

Now, Natalie's words sent a chill racing down her spine.

Sebastian Truman frowned deeply.

Seeing his expression, Natalie's lips curved slightly. "You don't believe me, Mr. Truman?"

Sebastian averted his eyes. "I've heard the legends of the Sterling Family. But I don't believe in fate, nor in prophecies."

"It's not superstition. It's fact." Natalie paced slowly to stand before him. "The Sterling Family's prophecies have never been wrong."

She stopped, her voice clear. "Ten years ago, the sudden death of Aldoria's richest man. The time and place were exact. Five years ago, the passing of the founder of M Country's Lemon Mobile. Every detail of the cause of death came true. Mr. Truman, these cases are verifiable."

Sebastian scoffed. "Coincidence."

Aaron Truman, however, paled. "Brother, with things like this, it's better to believe. Miss Sterling, how will my brother die?"

Natalie looked at Aaron, her eyes meaningful. "Peeking into heaven's secrets always comes at a price. What is Mr. Truman prepared to offer in exchange?"

Her gaze swept over Aaron, the meaning clear—the cooperation with the Evans family must not be broken.

Aaron immediately spoke up. "If you can save my brother, I can—"

"Enough."

Sebastian's cold voice cut him off. "The Truman family doesn't believe in this. Miss Sterling, please leave."

Natalie's face darkened. "How ungrateful! Evelyn, let's go!"

She grabbed Evelyn's arm and strode away.

Evelyn glanced back once, then followed her steps.

Mrs. Evans watched their retreating figures and leaned closer to Sebastian. "The Sterling Family prophecies are indeed mysterious. Are you really not considering it?"

Sebastian was Mrs. Evans's nephew from her maiden family. He said calmly, "Aunt, it's just smoke and mirrors. There are no gods or ghosts in this world, and no prophecies."

He looked at Aaron. "Since you've married Cecilia Evans, she is a Truman. The Truman family doesn't seek trouble, but we don't fear it either. We can lose the deal, but we won't let our own people suffer."

The Truman family chose daughters-in-law based on sincerity alone.

Though Aaron was from a collateral branch, his abilities were outstanding, and he was highly valued by Sebastian.

His wife, Cecilia Evans, had passed rigorous scrutiny. Aside from being a love child, she was nearly flawless—top scorer in the national college entrance exams, countless awards, brilliant and clever.

Richard Evans's favoritism towards this daughter was not without reason.

Aaron nodded. "I understand. Cecilia married me. As long as she doesn't betray me, I will never betray her."

"Good."

Sebastian said no more, seeing his guests out as if Natalie's warning had gone in one ear and out the other.

Aaron and Mrs. Evans left together.

Mrs. Evans lowered her voice to remind him. "Cecilia Evans could betray her own father. Her nature is hard to gauge. Aaron, do you really want to tie yourself to her?"

Aaron's eyes were firm. "Cecilia and I met in university. She didn't know my identity back then. Among all her suitors, she chose me, the most unremarkable one. Aunt, her feelings for me are genuine."

Mrs. Evans sighed softly. "I hope so."

Aaron lowered his gaze. "It's a pity she has this illness... I need to spend more time with her."

"Go on."

Mrs. Evans watched him walk towards the rear courtyard.

Valued by Sebastian, Aaron now lived in the Truman family's old residence.

Cecilia Evans sat in her room, still puzzled about how Aaron had managed to get her out of prison, when her eyes suddenly fell on a medical report on the table.

Advanced-stage colon cancer.

Cecilia shot to her feet, her fingers trembling.

Aaron had a terminal illness?

Then who else could protect her?

Fear instantly seized her heart.

Meanwhile.

Evelyn stepped out of the Truman mansion and pulled Natalie to a stop. "The Sterling Family's prophecies... what's really going on?"
