Chapter 773
Evelyn Ross waved her hand dismissively.
She was not the type to hold a favor over someone's head.
But she was no saint either.
She needed to be firmly tied to the five major families of New York.
Risking her life yesterday to save Sebastian Truman and getting him to restore normal cooperation with them was the most direct and effective method.
When Natalie Castillo was speaking earlier, she had heard faint footsteps.
That was Alexander Vance reminding her that someone was coming.
Evelyn immediately seized the moment to say those words, showcasing her character.
Sometimes, making a direct demand might lead to Sebastian refusing.
This kind of indirect expression would make Sebastian feel guilty, and he would definitely restore cooperation with the Valentine family and her.
Evelyn knew her approach was a bit manipulative.
But to achieve her goal, she didn't mind the means.
After all, she had grown up navigating various part-time job circles. She had seen it all.
Everything unfolded as Evelyn had anticipated.
After Sebastian Truman brought Mia Truman back to the Truman residence, he immediately summoned Aaron Truman and Cecilia Evans.
He stated directly, "Miss Ross saved my life and Mia's. The cooperation with the Valentine family must continue."
Upon hearing this, Aaron immediately nodded. "Understood, big brother."
He scratched his head sheepishly. "You shouldn't have severed ties with Miss Ross because of me in the first place."
Sebastian looked at him. "Consider this a favor I owe you. But there's no other way. Her life-saving grace for me and Mia is too significant."
Aaron nodded again.
Cecilia Evans, sitting beside Aaron, clenched her fists tightly.
Her father was dead.
Her mother was in prison.
All of this was caused by Alexander Vance and Evelyn Ross.
Yet now, with a single sentence from Sebastian, the matter was brushed aside so lightly.
It was utterly infuriating.
She absolutely could not allow this to happen.
Cecilia glanced at Aaron and lowered her gaze.
It was only because she was merely Aaron's wife that Sebastian was willing to let it go.
What if Evelyn had offended Aaron instead?
Since Aaron was terminally ill anyway, perhaps...
As this thought crossed Cecilia's mind, Sebastian happened to look at her. "Sister-in-law, what do you think?"
Cecilia's face immediately broke into a wide smile. "I think it's perfectly fine, of course. Actually, the conflict between me and my uncle and aunt isn't that deep. When you think about it, we are family after all..."
Sebastian studied her for a moment, trying to discern the sincerity behind her words.
Mia, sitting beside him, chimed in. "I agree! Although I haven't interacted with them much, that Miss Ross gave me such a cool vibe! I've never seen such a perfect blend of effortless style and beauty in a woman before! From today on, she's my idol!"
Cecilia's mouth twitched at these words.
She lowered her eyes, coughed lightly, and spoke again. "Well, since they saved big brother and little sister, merely restoring cooperation might not be enough. Perhaps we should pay them a visit. We could have a meal together to strengthen our bond!"
Sebastian was about to refuse.
He didn't think Evelyn was that type of person.
Miss Ross disdained leveraging favors. Why would she attend a social gathering?
But before he could speak, Mia immediately jumped up excitedly. "I think that's a great idea!"
She then looked a bit embarrassed. "That day, I was so focused on dealing with that scumbag that I forgot to get Miss Ross's and that Miss Castillo's WhatsApp contacts. Let's go hang out with them!"
Cecilia looked at Sebastian.
Sebastian hesitated for a moment.
Mia shook his shoulder. "Brother, please? Don't you want to see Miss Ross too?"
Sebastian fell silent for a beat before speaking. "We can ask first. They might not be interested."
"Great!"
Mia said, then looked at Sebastian and held out her hand.
Sebastian asked, "What?"
"Miss Ross's phone number!"
"How would I have that?"
Sebastian retorted stiffly. Mia had already snatched his phone, opened the contacts, and started scrolling. "Where's Miss Ross's number?"
Sebastian coughed, took the phone back, searched for a moment, and opened a contact entry.
Mia took it and caught sight of the note Sebastian had for Evelyn: Fox.
Mia said, "Brother, why are you insulting her?"
Sebastian looked at her, puzzled.
Mia said, "You're calling her a fox!"
Sebastian coughed and explained, "She is quite cunning, isn't she?"
Did they really think he didn't know that Alexander Vance had deliberately lured him to that spot so he could overhear Evelyn's little speech?
He just chose not to expose them.
An old fox and a young fox, putting on a performance together.
However, Sebastian didn't elaborate further. He asked casually, "If you're not going to call, forget it."
He reached out to take the phone back.
Mia immediately took a step back. "Of course I'm calling! I'm calling right now!"
She grinned and walked to the side.
Cecilia stared at her retreating back, a flash of malice in her eyes.
She then looked at Aaron.
Wasn't it terminal colon cancer?
Then, on the day they visited the Vance residence, she would add a little something to the food they all shared.
Those substances wouldn't harm an ordinary person.
But for someone with terminal colon cancer, they would be fatal.
If Aaron died at the Vance residence, let's see how Sebastian could continue cooperating with them!
