Chapter 784

Alexander Vance's words fell, plunging the entire living room into a dead silence.

Sebastian Truman was the first to react, his voice low. "Then we'll trouble you, Mr. Vance, to retrieve the surveillance footage."

Alexander gave a slight nod. The butler immediately turned to make arrangements.

Cecilia Evans's face changed drastically. She jerked her head up to look at Alexander and Evelyn, her voice sharp. "You installed cameras in the kitchen?"

Evelyn nodded calmly. "The house hasn't been peaceful lately. Cameras were installed as a precaution. Since we have conflicting accounts, the footage will clarify everything."

Cecilia bit her lower lip hard, her nails digging into her palms.

She didn't believe it.

Who would install cameras in a place like the kitchen?

Natalie Castillo spoke coldly. "Tell the truth now, and there's still time. Perhaps I'll give you the antidote, let you live a few more days."

Hearing this, Cecilia sneered.

So they were bluffing after all.

She immediately grabbed Aaron Truman's arm, her eyes reddening. "Honey, do you believe me? How could I possibly lie to you?"

Aaron nodded without hesitation. "Of course I believe you! Cecilia, you've always been so kind, always wanting to reconcile with Uncle and Aunt. How could you lie?"

He turned sharply to Alexander and Evelyn, his voice hoarse. "Don't you dare slander Cecilia! She's dying. How could she lie to me?"

Evelyn and Alexander exchanged a glance but didn't respond.

Sebastian frowned. "Aaron, calm down."

"How can I calm down?" Aaron's eyes were bloodshot as he pointed at Cecilia. "Big brother, look at her! She's my wife. She's dying! And you want me to calm down in the home of her murderer?"

His voice trembled. "Evelyn saved your life. That's your debt of gratitude. But I need to avenge my wife! I can't just watch her die!"

Sebastian's brow remained tightly furrowed.

Mia Truman looked from Cecilia to Evelyn and spoke softly. "Second brother, Miss Evelyn isn't that kind of person. There must be a misunderstanding…"

"A misunderstanding?" Cecilia gave a bitter laugh. "Would I poison myself?"

Before she could finish, the butler returned quickly with a tablet. "Sir, the surveillance footage has been retrieved."

He gave Cecilia a meaningful look before handing the tablet to Alexander.

Alexander only glanced at it briefly before passing it to Aaron. "See for yourself."

Aaron snatched the tablet. After one look, his entire body froze.

He slowly raised his head, looking at Cecilia with disbelief.

Cecilia's heart tightened. She forced herself to stay calm. "Honey, what is it? Is there no footage at all? They were just bluffing…"

Aaron pushed the tablet toward her, his voice dry. "Cecilia, what… what is this?"

Cecilia looked down. Her face instantly turned deathly pale.

The surveillance footage clearly showed her, taking advantage of a moment when no one was looking, pouring a packet of powder into her own water glass.

She whipped her head around to stare at Alexander.

Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Told you there were cameras."

Cecilia shuddered.

She had miscalculated.

She suddenly threw herself at Aaron, clutching his legs and wailing. "Honey, I didn't want to live anymore! They drove me to it! I wanted to die in the Truman family, make them pay! Honey, you have to help me!"

Aaron stared at her blankly, not responding.

Sebastian spoke evenly. "But earlier, you seemed to mistakenly believe the one with colon cancer was Aaron, didn't you?"

Aaron froze.

He slowly turned to look at Cecilia, then at Sebastian. "Big brother, what do you mean?"

Sebastian's voice was calm. "If you were the one with colon cancer, and then you died of poisoning in the Vance home, the Truman and Vance families would likely be completely severed."

Aaron drew a sharp breath, his gaze fixed intently on Cecilia.

Cecilia clenched her teeth. "Honey, let me explain, it's not like that…"

"I remember you wanted to mortgage the house before, said you urgently needed money. You also secretly applied for a passport." Sebastian suddenly seemed to recall something, his eyes sharp. "So you had already mistakenly believed Aaron had colon cancer? You were afraid he'd sell the house for treatment, leaving no money for you, so you tried to mortgage it first—but I discovered it in time, and you didn't succeed."

Aaron felt as if struck by lightning.

Back when he saw Cecilia secretly talking to someone on the street, he had felt something was off, but hadn't dwelled on it. Now, connecting the dots…

He stared fixedly at Cecilia, his voice shaking. "Later at the hospital, I asked you to buy the medicine, but you switched it for vitamins… You were reluctant to spend the money?"

Aaron's eyes were red. "Why? Cecilia, tell me why!"

Seeing the truth exposed, Cecilia simply pushed Aaron away and let out a cold laugh. "Why? You really want to know? Fine, I'll tell you!"

Her eyes were filled with venom. "Because I wanted you to help me get revenge, but you, this coward, never dared! If you had acted sooner, why would I have gone to such lengths to harm you? And in the end… I harmed myself!"
