Chapter 792

Elian Cross sighed softly, his tone gentle.

"Mr. Vance, I understand your concern, but I truly am just here for a meal."

He turned to Evelyn Ross.

"Miss Ross, if I had any other intentions toward you, I would have acted back in San Francisco."

"Besides, I went from eighty pounds to one hundred and twenty pounds thanks to your cooking."

"Don't you know my character by now?"

Evelyn was silent.

Something about his words felt off.

She frowned.

"Once a week, same as in San Francisco."

"But... I'll be traveling soon and might not have time to cook."

Elian Cross was slightly taken aback.

His attendant immediately chimed in.

"Where are you going, Miss Ross?"

"Can we come along?"

"My young master will starve without you!"

Evelyn was silent again.

Alexander Vance's expression darkened.

This sounded more and more ambiguous.

He stared at Evelyn, not speaking, but a strange tension rose within him.

Sebastian Truman also liked Evelyn, but Alexander wasn't overly worried.

The string of prayer beads on Sebastian's wrist said it all.

He was destined for a life of asceticism.

But this seemingly frail Elian Cross before him gave Alexander an unprecedented sense of crisis.

He cleared his throat lightly.

Evelyn glanced at him, then looked at Elian Cross.

"How about... you send a chef over, and I'll teach him?"

The attendant sighed.

"Have you forgotten, Miss Ross?"

"We sent a chef to learn from you back in San Francisco."

"But strangely, even following the exact same steps, the flavor was always slightly off."

"My young master has a very discerning palate."

"Even the slightest difference makes it hard for him to swallow... Ah!"

Elian Cross, who had just been compared to a dog, gave him a cool look.

The attendant immediately shut his mouth.

"I misspoke!"

"You're not a dog."

"Your palate is even more sensitive than a dog's!"

Elian Cross looked away, ignoring him, and addressed Evelyn.

"I know this is troublesome."

"How about this: from now on, if you ever face any difficulty, you can come to me."

Before Evelyn could respond, the attendant spoke up again.

"Miss Ross, my young master's promise is incredibly valuable!"

"He's the smartest person in the world!"

Evelyn was startled.

"The smartest?"

The attendant nodded vigorously.

"Yes!"

"The young master has the highest IQ globally."

"He masters anything at a glance."

"Heaven envied his talent, which is why he developed anorexia."

"Any problem you have, he can solve it!"

Elian Cross coughed lightly.

"That's enough."

The attendant finally fell silent.

Elian Cross looked at Evelyn.

"He's not wrong."

"You've done me a great kindness."

"You can come to me for anything."

Evelyn pressed her lips together and nodded.

"Alright."

Elian Cross stood up, intending to bow in thanks.

But as he rose, his legs gave way, and he nearly fell.

Evelyn looked at him.

"Judging by your condition, you haven't eaten properly in a while."

"I'll go make you something."

Elian Cross said, "Thank you for the trouble, Miss Ross."

Evelyn walked into the kitchen.

Alexander immediately followed, his tone tinged with jealousy.

"How close are you two, exactly?"

Evelyn coughed lightly.

"He helped out a lot at my restaurant back in the day."

"He's considered a regular customer."

Alexander was puzzled.

"How so?"

Evelyn smiled faintly.

"After I left the Sterling Family, I worked odd jobs to support myself."

"Later, I started working in a restaurant to learn cooking."

"After I honed my skills, the restaurant was on the verge of closing due to poor business, so I took it over."

"At first, we were losing money badly and almost couldn't sustain it."

"Then Mr. Shen appeared."

"He paid a full day's revenue for every meal, helping us through the toughest times."

"Later, the restaurant became popular."

"I originally planned to step back, but the reason I insisted on cooking personally every week was indeed because of him."

Elian Cross had extended a helping hand during their most difficult period.

Evelyn had always remembered this kindness.

So even after becoming Dr. Sterling, she still made time each week to cook a meal for Elian Cross.

Alexander nodded, then asked another question.

"When you first cooked for him, was it because he was good-looking?"

Evelyn shot him a look.

"The first time he came to the restaurant, he was over six feet tall but weighed only a little over eighty pounds."

"His cheeks were sunken."

"His features were there, but it was still startling."

"How was I to know he'd look this good after gaining weight?"

"Later, we never met in person."

"Don't overthink it."
