Chapter 794

Evelyn Ross had long suspected Zack Davis.

She had secretly arranged paternity tests for him and Chloe.

Each result confirmed he was the father.

It wasn't until Marcus Valentine's oligospermia was exposed that she realized—medical reports could be manipulated.

The mastermind behind it was later discovered to be Nicole Sterling.

That woman, codenamed "Fox," had nearly the entire medical field under her thumb.

So today, when she heard Chloe's biological father had come forward, Evelyn partly believed it.

She immediately ordered a trusted subordinate to run a new test.

The result was unexpected—Elian Cross was not Chloe's father.

Zack Davis wasn't either.

Chloe's eyes and brows resembled Grace Sterling's, and also Evelyn's.

Anyone who saw her would think she was the sister's child.

But who was her real father?

At this moment, Evelyn suddenly felt her sister might not have been as simple and timid as she appeared.

Alexander Vance sensed her unease.

"Are you worried Chloe's biological father might really show up?"

Evelyn nodded.

"I'm afraid if my identity is exposed, I won't be able to save my mother."

Alexander took her hand.

"Worrying about it now is useless. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

His words were like a beam of light, dispelling the gloom in Evelyn's heart.

She wanted to save her mother so badly.

Every step felt like walking on thin ice.

But anxiety solved nothing.

Doing her best was enough.

Evelyn took a deep breath and nodded.

The two returned to their room upstairs.

Natalie Castillo was sitting on the carpet with Chloe, dividing snacks.

Natalie looked very serious.

"These two candies are yours, these two are mine. I'll help you eat this pack of sunflower seeds. You're too young for too much sugar..."

Evelyn couldn't help but smile.

Hearing the noise, Chloe immediately ran over and hugged her leg.

"Mommy."

She then looked at Alexander and blinked.

"Daddy!"

Alexander raised an eyebrow, glancing at Evelyn.

Evelyn was also stunned.

"What did you call him?"

"Daddy."

The tiny, milky voice melted Evelyn's heart.

Alexander bent down and picked the little girl up.

The tall man held the small child.

Evelyn suddenly understood what tangible happiness looked like.

Chloe ultimately stayed at the Ashcroft residence.

Mr. Valentine personally oversaw her care.

After the previous poisoning incident, the Ashcrofts had thoroughly vetted all their servants and bodyguards.

They ensured there were no moles.

The Ashcroft estate was now heavily guarded, with strict checks for entry and exit.

There was absolutely no chance of a child being kidnapped again.

After discussing it with Alexander, Evelyn decided to stay at the Ashcroft residence temporarily.

The Vance household currently only had the two of them, a perfect time to enjoy their private world.

But Chloe's call of "Mommy and Daddy" made them reluctant to leave.

They decided to spend more time with the child.

Since they weren't leaving, Natalie Castillo naturally moved into the Ashcroft residence as well.

So that night—

"Ah!"

Spencer Valentine returned home from school, finished his shower, and was ready for bed.

He pulled back the covers and saw Natalie sleeping soundly.

He screamed in fright.

Natalie rubbed her eyes and sat up.

"Spencer, why are you shouting?"

Spencer stammered.

"You... what are you doing here?"

Natalie stated matter-of-factly.

"I'm staying at the Ashcroft residence, of course I'm staying in your room. The other rooms are all too small!"

All seven Ashcroft brothers lived in this building.

Each floor had two or three suites. There were plenty of guest rooms, but they weren't very spacious.

Upon hearing this, Natalie had simply moved into Spencer's room.

Her excuse—she had too many snacks, and small rooms couldn't hold them.

Spencer was an innocent college student.

Usually, just holding hands or a kiss would make his heart race and face flush.

Where had he ever seen a scene like this?

He swallowed hard, scared, and ran off to sleep in a guest room.

But his mind was filled with images of Natalie.

The girl's scent, her hair scattered on the pillow...

He tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Until midnight—

The door to the adjacent room suddenly opened.

Spencer was startled and got up to check.

The sight before him froze him completely in place.
