Chapter 812
Evelyn's gaze rested on Alexander's face.
After a moment, she spoke softly.
"Let's go back."
"Alright."
She paused, then added.
"Don't rush like this next time. Ten hours is too tiring."
"It's not tiring."
Alexander's voice was especially deep in the night, carrying a trace of imperceptible tenderness.
He turned his head to look at her, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly.
"From now on, every two weeks, I'll bring you out like this for a proper rest."
Evelyn shook her head.
"That's not necessary."
"It is."
The car slowly entered the Sterling Family estate.
It came to a stop in a parking space.
Alexander didn't turn off the engine immediately.
Instead, he turned around, his gaze focused intently on her.
"Evelyn, I don't know what you'll face in the future."
"I don't know what storms the Sterling Family is hiding."
"But I want you to know, no matter what happens, I'll be by your side."
"So, don't be afraid."
Evelyn was stunned.
Her eyes suddenly felt a little warm.
Don't be afraid...
It had been a long time since anyone had said those three words to her.
In everyone's eyes, she was always the strong one, capable of carrying everything.
Natalie Castillo relied on her.
Joanna Sterling depended on her.
Even little Chloe was used to hiding behind her.
Only Alexander would tell her so directly that she didn't have to be strong alone.
Evelyn took a deep breath, suppressing the tightness in her throat.
"I know."
Alexander reached out and ruffled the top of her head.
"In the future, no matter who you face or what you face, I'll be with you."
"Okay."
After saying this, Evelyn suddenly leaned forward.
She gently pressed a kiss to his lips.
She had intended to pull back after the kiss.
But her wrist was suddenly grasped by him.
A force pulled her back.
Immediately after, a scorching, domineering kiss descended.
Evelyn's eyes widened.
She instinctively wanted to push him away.
But in the end, she closed her eyes.
She allowed herself to sink into this kiss.
The night was thick.
Even the moon had quietly hidden itself in the clouds.
In the dim light, Evelyn suddenly sensed something.
She abruptly pushed Alexander away.
Both of them turned their heads simultaneously, looking out the car window.
Joanna, Natalie, Spencer Valentine, Preston Valentine, and little Chloe being held in someone's arms.
Five heads were pressed against the car window!
Chloe asked in a small voice.
"What are Mommy and Daddy doing?"
"Shh..."
Natalie lowered her voice.
"Not for young eyes! They're making you a little brother or sister!"
Chloe seemed to understand, but not fully.
"Oh~"
The group continued to stare wide-eyed inside.
Evelyn: "..."
She and Alexander just now... were seen completely?!
Her cheeks instantly burned.
Alexander exchanged a glance with her.
He was the first to push the car door open and get out.
Evelyn followed.
Natalie bounced over, winking and grinning.
"Hehe, hehehe... didn't disturb you, did we?"
"Disturb what?"
Evelyn's expression was calm.
"Something got in my eye. Alexander was just helping me blow it out."
Natalie was taken aback.
"Huh? I thought you were kissing!"
Evelyn glanced at her.
"So young, yet your thoughts are so impure? This is a place that values civility."
After saying this, she walked over and picked up Chloe.
With her other hand, she took Alexander's hand.
She walked straight into the house.
Natalie scratched her head.
"Did I really see wrong?"
Spencer stroked his chin.
"That angle... does seem a bit like a camera trick? Easy to misunderstand. Natalie, want to try it with me?"
Natalie: "...Get lost."
Joanna completely ignored those two clowns.
She quickly caught up to Evelyn.
When Evelyn sat on the sofa to drink water, and Alexander went to the kitchen to prepare a late-night snack, she leaned close to Evelyn.
She lowered her voice.
"Any progress on the Montgomery front? Thought of a way yet?"
Evelyn shook her head.
"No."
"No?!"
Joanna grew anxious.
"Then what were you doing out all day?"
"Sleeping."
Joanna: "??"
Evelyn looked completely unperturbed.
"Slept the whole day."
Joanna: "!!!"
Her eyes widened.
It took her a long moment to find her voice again.
"Bunny! Do you even have my matters in mind?!"
Evelyn cleared her throat lightly.
"Don't rush."
"How can I not rush? That's the empire I worked so hard to build!"
Evelyn raised an eyebrow.
"The empire Elian Cross looked down on?"
Joanna: "..."
Evelyn smiled.
"This matter can't be rushed. We can't conjure up a child for Montgomery."
"So the only way—"
"What is it?"
"Is to oppose Clownfish in a way Montgomery can accept."
Joanna sighed.
"Montgomery detests cutthroat competition the most. In Aldoria, royal support is key."
"I even suspect Montgomery has already reached a deal with Clownfish."
"I've submitted several meeting requests. He hasn't responded to a single one..."
Evelyn fell silent for a moment.
Joanna stared at her.
Suddenly, her expression turned serious.
"As long as you help me settle Montgomery and get my company back, I'll join you."
Evelyn looked up.
"Deal."
