Chapter 846

When Evelyn opened her eyes again, she found herself lying on the bed in the cruise ship's guest cabin.

The sound of waves hitting the hull came from outside the window.

She sat up abruptly and immediately reached for her phone.

Logically, five days had passed, so the phone should have been dead and powered off long ago.

But when the screen lit up, the battery indicator showed eighty percent.

This meant... after someone brought her back to the ship yesterday, they had specifically charged her phone?

No, not just that.

Evelyn opened her social media app and discovered her account had been updating posts all these days.

All were photos and videos from the cruise.

There were even records of the daily meals delivered to the room.

The Sterling Family's work was indeed meticulous.

Even in the vast ocean, they feared her disappearance might be noticed, so they specifically arranged a stand-in to play her.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

It was a video call request.

Only satellite signals were available at sea. After connecting, Alexander's face appeared on the screen.

A week apart, his jawline seemed sharper.

The moment he saw Evelyn, his tense shoulders visibly relaxed.

"Are you okay?" Evelyn asked.

Alexander's voice was low. "Natalie's guardian never returned to the Sterling Family with her, so I managed to bluff my way through. But staying in the Sterling Family villa, I always felt I couldn't go outside."

Evelyn immediately said, "Right, they have infrared detectors installed everywhere. No matter how good the disguise, stepping outside would expose you."

Alexander nodded. "So that's why."

"How was your week?"

"Alright. Natalie's parents are very good to her. The family atmosphere is warm. I've been staying in my room the whole time."

After briefly exchanging updates, Evelyn remembered something. "The Sterlingnies in the Sterling household shouldn't lack money. How did you get someone to pass me the note?"

Alexander smiled faintly. "Where there are people, there are politics. Natalie has five fathers. They are constantly scheming against each other, each with their own in-law family influence... The least favored is the third father. I said I could arrange for him to spend a night with Natalie's mother, and he agreed to help pass the message."

Evelyn: "..."

In-law family influence?

The corner of her mouth twitched. "He believed it that easily?"

"Not exactly easy. Since he married into the family, he's never been alone with Natalie's mother. Natalie is the sole heir of the family. If he doesn't try to please her, what else can he do?"

Evelyn almost rolled her eyes.

So the reason she kept hitting walls at Elara's place and couldn't get any information was ultimately because Elara had too few husbands?

As she was thinking this, Alexander cleared his throat softly. "Evelyn, in the future... when you see other men, will you stop liking me?"

Evelyn was drinking water and choked directly upon hearing this.

Was this still the aloof, domineering CEO Alexander Vance?

She remembered when they first met, this man was incredibly arrogant.

When she said they were married, he didn't even believe her!

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Act normal."

Alexander sighed. "I just suddenly feel a sense of crisis. At Natalie's house, men who act a bit more 'green tea' get more attention. I never thought this tactic would work on women too. So..."

Evelyn was curious. "So what?"

Alexander cleared his throat again, a hint of awkwardness appearing on his handsome face. "So I haven't been completely idle these past few days. I learned a few things from Natalie's fathers about how to please a woman."

Evelyn: "..."

She stared at the screen in disbelief. "What on earth did you learn?"

"I'll try it out on you when we get home."

Evelyn swallowed hard.

She had a feeling this man was making an innuendo, but she had no proof.

Even through the screen, her cheeks felt warm.

Her eyes darted away, and she coughed lightly. "Well, when I had nothing to do, I also..."

"Also learned techniques to handle men?" Alexander interrupted her.

Evelyn: "..."

She twitched her lips. "Shut up!"

"Oh, okay."

The man responded with a hint of grievance.

Evelyn suddenly wondered if her tone had been too harsh.

She looked at the screen and spoke slowly. "I did something stupid. At the Sterling house, I took apart a radio and made a displacement measurement device myself, trying to determine my location. But I had no idea what the base coordinates were, so I ended up with a bunch of useless data."

Testing latitude and longitude is like determining coordinates in a planar space.

You need a zero point as a reference.

Without a zero point, the measured data is worthless.

Evelyn had wanted to find the Sterling Family's address and then sneak back to investigate their secrets.

Unfortunately, she had thought too simply.

But as soon as she finished speaking, Alexander laughed. "What a coincidence, I also measured a bunch of useless data. But the base coordinates we used must be different, so..."

Evelyn's eyes lit up. "So if we combine our data, we can calculate the Sterling Family's coordinates on Earth?"

Alexander: "Yes."

Evelyn immediately said, "That's great, then send it over... Never mind, our phones are probably monitored. We'll talk about it when we get home."

Alexander smiled slightly. "Home?"

Evelyn didn't catch the deeper meaning in his words and nodded. "Yeah, my side should be on the return trip, arriving in New York in about a day. What about you?"

Alexander said slowly, "Me too, roughly. Then we'll see each other at home."

"Okay, see you at home."
