Evelyn stared at Scarlett.

Several burly guards stood behind Scarlett.

Her mind raced.

A direct confrontation was out of the question.

She was unarmed. How could she fight so many members of the Sterling Family?

If a fight broke out, the military garrisoned on the island would immediately surround them.

But was she really going to let herself be thrown into the sea?

No.

Evelyn's gaze shifted to Sienna.

True to form, Sienna stepped in front of her.

"Don't you dare touch her!"

Scarlett sneered.

"Who do you think you are? How dare you stand in my way?"

Sienna straightened her back.

"She is my friend. We are equals. Why can't I stop you?"

Scarlett let out a derisive laugh.

"Equals? You really think you and I are equals? We may both be called Second-Class families to outsiders, but are you worthy?"

Sienna's face darkened.

"Worthy or not isn't for you to decide! At the very least, my family's status as Second-Class is recognized here. If you want to expel someone, go ask your aunt. Let the Family Head speak to my father personally!"

Scarlett's eyes turned sinister.

"Such a trivial matter doesn't require disturbing my aunt."

Sienna smiled.

"Is it that you don't need to, or that you don't dare? The Family Head has always been fair and impartial, never showing favoritism. I think you simply don't dare to bring this before her!"

Scarlett clenched her fists.

"Hmph, what are you so smug about? She's my aunt. If this really reached her, do you think she'd side with you? But I can't be bothered to disturb her today."

She turned back to Evelyn.

"I'll let you off today. But remember this, Sienna. You'd better keep your friend by your side wherever you go. Otherwise, I will make her disappear!"

Scarlett turned and left.

Her retreating figure was full of arrogance.

Sienna let out a sigh of relief.

Evelyn looked at her.

"Isn't your Family Head known for impartial justice? What were you afraid of?"

Sienna immediately shot her a look.

"Who in their right mind wants to go see the Family Head? You have no idea. When the Family Head looks at you, her gaze... it's terrifying."

Evelyn was taken aback.

Seeing Sienna argue so forcefully earlier, she had thought Sienna truly wasn't afraid.

So she was also terrified of that Family Head.

It made sense.

The person who emerged victorious in the succession struggle couldn't possibly be simple.

This Family Head must be very mysterious.

Evelyn suddenly felt a flicker of curiosity.

Sienna sighed.

"Why are you so reckless? You just arrived in a strange place, know nothing about it, and you go offending people right away! Weren't you afraid she'd really throw you into the sea?"

Evelyn remained silent.

She hadn't acted on impulse.

From her conversation with Sienna, she had made a judgment.

Sienna was naive and kind-hearted.

Evelyn asked.

"How is it special?"

Sienna said.

"We are the direct lineage."

"The direct lineage?"

"The first Sterling Family member to possess the prophetic ability was our ancestor. In ancient times, every successor was from our direct lineage. The other branches were essentially raising candidates for us, cultivating successors. But during the 134th generation, the direct lineage successor suddenly lost the competition, and a branch lineage successor took the position. Even so, our direct lineage still holds a special status within the clan."

Evelyn understood.

Bloodline and family lineage were of paramount importance in the Sterling Family.

But why?

Sienna soon provided the answer.
