Chapter 594
The smile on Nicole Sterling's face froze instantly.
She stared at Evelyn Ross, her eyes filled with disbelief. "Grace, do you think I'll fall for such a cheap trick? You can't possibly have any evidence!"
A cold smile curled at the corner of Evelyn's lips. "Susan Langley sold you out long ago. Did you really think she was stupid enough not to protect herself? She secretly recorded every conversation and took screenshots of every instruction you gave her. All the chat logs, all the transaction records—she kept everything."
She pulled out her phone and held the screen right in front of Nicole's eyes. "See for yourself. Everything is here, from the first contact to the most recent order. Nicole, you can't run from this."
Nicole's face turned deathly pale. Her jaw tightened. "That bitch!"
Evelyn gave Grace Lorenz a meaningful glance.
Grace immediately stepped forward, her voice cold and stern. "Ms. Sterling, we suspect your involvement in a premeditated murder case. You are now being summoned for questioning in accordance with the law. Please cooperate."
Nicole clenched her fists, her body trembling slightly. Suddenly, she let out a cold laugh. "Grace, you think you can arrest me with just this? How naive!"
Before Evelyn could speak, Grace cut her off. "Ms. Sterling, you will come with us now. If you refuse to cooperate, we will be forced to take you into custody."
Nicole took a deep breath and finally extended her hands.
The cold metal of the handcuffs clicked shut around her wrists.
She jerked her head up, her gaze darting between Grace and Evelyn. A sudden realization dawned on her. "You're working together?"
Grace's expression remained impassive. "Take her away."
Nicole struggled, but two officers held her firmly. She suddenly shrieked, "I don't know any 'Fox'! You've got the wrong person!"
Grace paused mid-step and turned to look at her, her eyes sharp as knives. "Ms. Sterling, in our entire conversation just now, we never once mentioned the word 'Fox'. How did you know that's who we're after?"
Nicole was instantly speechless.
Grace gave a cold laugh and turned to the officer beside her taking notes. "Record that. It can serve as evidence of her self-identification."
"Yes, ma'am."
Grace pushed Nicole forward, leading her out.
Only then did Evelyn turn to face the silent Elder Castillo.
She took a step forward, her voice calm yet carrying an undeniable pressure. "Elder Castillo, Nicole is under arrest. She has lost. Now, do you still intend to withhold the antidote?"
The old man's expression shifted, finally settling into a grim resolve. "I need time to consider."
"Fine."
Evelyn nodded. "My father's poison will take effect in six days. You have five days left."
Elder Castillo frowned. "The DNA testing equipment will arrive tonight. Ms. Sterling, I expect you to come tomorrow for the verification."
Evelyn paused for a moment.
She met the old man's gaze and nodded. "Alright."
No matter what, this matter of impersonating the Castillo family's granddaughter needed to be settled.
Tonight, she and Grace would interrogate Nicole. Once Nicole's guilt was firmly established, even if the DNA test tomorrow proved her identity false, the Castillo family would have no choice but to cooperate.
Evelyn walked out of the living room.
Outside, Grace was standing not far away with Nicole in custody.
Nicole was speaking agitatedly, but Grace merely wore a cold expression, remaining silent.
Seeing Evelyn emerge, Grace said, "We're heading back to the department. We have laws here. We can't hold private trials."
Evelyn nodded.
She had never intended to break the law.
With several personnel present, Nicole was escorted by other Special Operations Division officers into a vehicle ahead.
Evelyn suddenly spoke up. "I'll ride in the same car with her."
Nicole sneered. "What? Afraid I'll escape?"
Evelyn replied calmly, "You are quite skilled. It's a possibility. Also, I'm concerned about an ambush on the road."
They couldn't afford to let Nicole escape after finally capturing her.
Hearing this, Grace also said, "Then I'll ride with you."
Evelyn nodded and opened the car door to get in.
As the car drove out of the Castillo estate gates, she saw Alexander Vance's car parked quietly by the roadside, as if providing a covert escort.
A faint smile touched Evelyn's lips.
This man always seemed to be on the same wavelength as her.
They remained on high alert throughout the journey.
Half an hour later, the convoy arrived safely at the Special Operations Division headquarters.
Evelyn had just stepped out of the car when her phone rang.
Alexander's voice came through. "Nicole has significant backing. There were three attempts to intercept your convoy on the road just now. Our people stopped them all."
Evelyn's eyes sharpened as she looked at Nicole being escorted out of the vehicle.
Daring to attempt a public vehicle interception within the country?
It seemed Nicole was truly desperate.
Good.
Now, it was her turn to take the stage.
She was determined to pry the Sterling Family's secrets from Nicole's mouth and tear away that mysterious veil.
