Chapter 596

Evelyn was stunned.

She hadn't expected it to be this easy.

Her gaze fell on Nicole's face.

Nicole suddenly laughed. "You think I'm your only opponent?"

Evelyn frowned. "What do you mean by 'opponent'?"

Ever since taking her sister Grace's identity, she had been forced to complete tasks assigned by the Sterling Family.

It felt like being pushed forward by an invisible hand.

She didn't even know the ultimate goal.

She only knew she had to do this to enter the Sterling Family and save her mother.

As she was thinking, Nicole laughed again. "You really don't know? Your birth parents didn't tell you?"

Evelyn froze. "Birth parents?"

Nicole raised an eyebrow. "You don't know? That's strange."

Evelyn's voice turned cold. "Stop speaking in riddles."

Nicole sneered. "They all say the Rabbit from China is useless. So you've even forgotten what happened before you were five?"

Evelyn's pupils contracted. "Before five?"

"We all grew up in the Sterling Family until we were five." Nicole said slowly. "Our birth parents were there too. Then we were sent away, exiled to different places. You came to China. I went to France. The most loyal servants became our foster parents. They left us small companies worth a few million. After that, it was up to us to see how far we could develop. Only when we were strong enough could we go home."

She looked Evelyn up and down. "You don't remember anything before five, but your foster parents should have told you this. Did they not say anything either?"

Evelyn was silent for a moment. "My foster parents died early. And as you know, I was a discarded piece. The Sterling Family cut off contact later."

Nicole scoffed. "Is that so?"

Evelyn met her gaze. "What else?"

Nicole raised an eyebrow. "I'm just curious. A discarded piece doesn't look so useless now. Grace, what exactly happened to you?"

Evelyn frowned. "Right now, I'm asking the questions. You answer."

Nicole lowered her eyes. "Fine. What else do you want to ask?"

Evelyn stared at her. "Who are our birth parents?"

Nicole smiled. "They're Sterling Family members, of course. Your parents and mine are cousins. As for exactly who, I don't know. Each family is in competition. Which country a child is sent to, what alias they use—none of us know about the others."

They don't know about each other?

And parents...

Evelyn suddenly remembered what her sister had said back in San Francisco.

Her sister said she had been stolen by someone from the Sterling Family.

Then she was raised by foster parents in New York.

At the time, Evelyn thought her sister's foster parents were the Sterling Family members who stole her.

But now it seemed... the foster parents might just have been Sterling Family servants?

Why did that Sterling Family member steal her sister?

Was it related to their mother, Sophia?

She thought for a long time before looking at Nicole. "How many exiled Sterling Family members are there in the world?"

"Twelve." Nicole answered readily. "All with animal code names. Twelve wanderers, all wanting to go home."

Evelyn asked again. "Can we go home by completing tasks?"

"Ha." Nicole laughed. "It seems you really know nothing. I'm starting to suspect you're an imposter, Rabbit! This is our deepest, most hidden secret!"

She leaned forward, lowering her voice. "If you want to go home, you can go back anytime."

Evelyn's pupils shrank sharply. "What?"

Nicole leaned back in her chair. She stared at Evelyn for a long moment, then suddenly smiled. "Rabbit, you forgot what happened five years ago... So, you couldn't have forgotten the way home too, could you?"

These words struck Evelyn's heart.

The way home... Did her sister know?!

But she wasn't her sister...

She clenched her jaw, forcing herself to stay calm. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Nicole spoke. "You really forgot? That's hilarious! Hahaha! All these years, you're the only Rabbit who hasn't returned home. We all thought you had a bad relationship with your parents and didn't want to go back... This outcome is truly laughable!"

Listening to this, Evelyn suddenly spoke. "Where exactly is the Sterling Family?"

From Nicole's words, she could tell Nicole often returned home.

Nicole must know the location of the Sterling Family!

Evelyn didn't want to play any games.

She didn't want her life controlled by the Sterling Family.

She just wanted to return to the Sterling Family and save her mother!

Nicole indeed looked at her. "Want to know? I'll tell you..."
