Chapter 743
Evelyn Ross wasn't actually sure.
She had no way of knowing if Sebastian Truman would really have an accident today.
But Natalie Castillo's words echoed in her ears.
When it came to life and death, it was better to believe and be wrong than to ignore it and risk disaster.
The time Natalie predicted for the accident was ten in the morning.
But Evelyn had no idea where Sebastian would be at ten.
She decided to go all the way.
At seven in the morning, she brought Natalie and parked right outside the Truman family gate.
On the way, Natalie bought a huge amount of breakfast.
Pancakes, fried dough sticks, soy milk, tofu pudding, dim sum, wonton soup, lean meat congee...
Evelyn leaned against the car, watching the Truman gate.
Natalie stayed inside the car, eating voraciously.
Evelyn watched as she finished every single item she had bought.
The corner of her mouth twitched involuntarily.
She glanced at Natalie's stomach.
It was flat as usual, not bulging at all.
Was this woman's stomach a bottomless pit?
Natalie finished eating, wiped her mouth, and looked over.
"I asked you when I was buying it. You said you didn't want any, so I didn't get a portion for you."
Evelyn was speechless.
This protective, food-hoarding attitude was nothing like a cunning old fox.
She couldn't bear to look.
Evelyn shifted her gaze back to the Truman gate.
She checked the time.
She had thought Sebastian, like Alexander Vance, was a workaholic who would leave early.
Unexpectedly, it was almost nine-thirty when the Truman gate slowly opened.
Sebastian's car drove out.
Evelyn remained calm, standing by her own car, watching him quietly.
Sebastian's car stopped.
Evelyn had parked her car sideways, blocking the entire entrance to the Truman estate.
The whole road was completely blocked by her.
Sebastian was driving a domestic Hongqi, very low-key.
The car door opened.
Sebastian got out with a dark expression and walked up to Evelyn.
"Miss Ross, what is the meaning of this?"
Evelyn looked up at him.
"Mr. Truman, you cannot leave before ten o'clock."
Sebastian frowned deeply.
"I have an important meeting today. Please don't cause trouble here."
Evelyn's tone was serious.
"You will be in a car accident at ten."
Sebastian scoffed.
"I've told you, I don't believe in that mystical nonsense."
Evelyn spread her hands.
"To be honest, I'm not a big believer either. But the Sterling Family's affairs are too uncanny. I can't take the risk. There's an old saying: it's better to believe it exists than to believe it doesn't."
Sebastian's face darkened further.
"Miss Ross, my life is my own responsibility. I don't believe in this. You blocking me here is useless."
Evelyn frowned.
"Mr. Truman, what could be more important than your life?"
Sebastian glanced at his watch, growing more impatient.
He had actually gotten up quite early today.
But during breakfast, a servant accidentally spilled congee all over him.
He had to go upstairs, shower again, and change clothes, which delayed him.
Now, there wasn't much time before the meeting started. He had no time to waste here.
"Miss Ross, if you don't move aside, I won't be polite."
"Fine." Evelyn raised her hand in a gesture. "Go ahead."
Sebastian was taken aback.
Evelyn continued, "I know my behavior is unreasonable and disruptive. But Alexander and I have investigated all the Sterling Family's prophecies over the past few decades. Not a single one was wrong. So today, I must stop you to verify the truth. As for the meeting you'll miss, I will bear all the consequences."
Sebastian said angrily, "Can you bear it? Do you know how important today's meeting is?"
Evelyn nodded.
"I know. You're negotiating with a foreign medical institution about vaccine imports, right? I can handle that."
With her identity as Nora, as long as she spoke up, foreign institutions wouldn't dare refuse her.
This was also her confidence in coming to block him.
Sebastian's face turned ashen.
"You investigated me?"
Evelyn admitted frankly.
"Sorry, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't delaying anything critical."
If Sebastian was on his way to save someone, her blocking him would be a serious offense.
So it was necessary to check his schedule in advance.
Sebastian was speechless.
Seeing that Evelyn was immovable, Sebastian took a step back.
"Fine. Then I'll wait until ten to leave. I want to see how a car accident could possibly happen right outside my own home!"
