Chapter 752
Evelyn Ross and Alexander Vance's car stopped outside the Truman family's main gate.
It wasn't that things couldn't be explained over the phone.
But some matters had to be seen with one's own eyes.
Natalie Castillo leaned out from the back seat, a half-eaten cookie still in her mouth. "Alexander, weren't you supposed to investigate the car accident today? Why did you tag along again?"
He hadn't come yesterday.
He had set up a surveillance net around the Truman estate.
Drones monitored the area around the clock, recording even a bird flying past.
Logically, he should have continued the stakeout today.
Yet he insisted on coming.
Alexander ignored her.
Natalie grinned. "Afraid your wife might get snatched away?"
Alexander gave her a cool glance.
Natalie lifted her chin, completely unfazed.
It was strange.
Alexander had an intimidating presence. When he was cold, he could freeze the very air.
Evelyn, however, was always composed and serene, her beauty devoid of any sharp edges.
Yet Natalie was only afraid of Evelyn, not Alexander.
When Alexander glared, she dared to stick out her tongue.
When Evelyn glanced back, she immediately behaved.
This attitude...
A dark glint flashed in Alexander's eyes.
The car had already stopped.
The three got out and walked toward the Truman family's living room.
Sebastian Truman stood outside the door.
He was usually aloof and distant, like an untouched statue of Buddha.
Today, he had made an exception to greet guests.
When he saw Evelyn, a flicker passed through his gaze. He was about to speak—
A figure had already stepped in front of Evelyn.
"Mr. Truman."
Alexander extended his hand, his voice low.
Sebastian paused.
The hand originally reaching for Evelyn shifted to grasp Alexander's.
"Mr. Vance."
He gave a slight nod, then looked at Evelyn. "Miss Ross."
Natalie raised her hand. "And me!"
Sebastian acted as if he hadn't seen her, turning slightly. "Please, come in."
Natalie rolled her eyes and followed Evelyn into the living room.
Mia Truman was also there.
Her eyes were red and swollen, clearly from crying.
Seeing people enter, she hurriedly wiped her tears, forcing a smile as she stood up. "Miss Ross, thank you so much for yesterday..."
Evelyn nodded. "It was nothing."
Her tone was flat.
Mia was taken aback.
Sebastian gestured toward the sofa. "Please, have a seat, Miss Ross."
He paused, then added, "Mr. Vance as well."
Alexander and Evelyn sat down opposite them.
Natalie plopped down on the arm of the sofa, swinging her legs, her eyes darting around.
She looked at Sebastian, then at Mia, then at Alexander.
She suddenly chuckled, wearing an "I get it" expression.
It was incredibly annoying.
Evelyn's fingers twitched, suppressing the urge to hit someone. She looked at Sebastian. "Have you uncovered the truth about the car accident?"
As soon as she spoke, several pairs of eyes turned toward Mia.
Then quickly looked away.
They were all intelligent people.
Mia's current state already explained everything.
Mia stood up. "Should I... excuse myself?"
Sebastian said calmly, "Sit down."
Mia pressed her lips together, sat back down, and lowered her head.
Sebastian was silent for a moment.
"This matter... originated with Mia."
His voice was soft, carrying a barely perceptible difficulty. "She had a boyfriend. That man bribed the Sterlingny to tamper with the brakes, intending to kill Mia and take her assets."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow.
Alexander remained expressionless.
Natalie's eyes lit up. "Tell us more!"
She pulled out some sunflower seeds and cracked one open with a crunch.
Evelyn and Alexander were already used to it.
Mia and Sebastian, however, were stunned.
This Miss Castillo... why did she always act so unpredictably?
