Chapter 754

The group headed to the bar in a large, noisy procession.

Even in the morning, the bar was dimly lit.

The music was deafening.

Evelyn squinted, adjusting to the low light. Her gaze swept across the room before settling on a booth in the corner.

A man was sitting there.

He had his arm around a girl, their posture intimate as they leaned close, talking quietly.

Evelyn and Natalie exchanged a look.

They both turned to Mia.

Surely she would see reason now?

She had seen it with her own eyes.

But Mia's expression was calm.

She even took a few steps forward, her tone flat. "That girl is Chloe. She's his girlfriend."

Evelyn was stunned.

Natalie's mouth twitched. "So, you knew he had a girlfriend, and you were still pursuing him?"

Mia looked down.

Her fingers twisted together, her voice soft. "He said... he had feelings for me too. He said Chloe was just a responsibility, that he couldn't abandon her, but that his heart belonged to me. He said he would marry me someday..."

Evelyn fell silent.

Natalie's eyes widened. "Mia Truman, the heiress, playing the other woman for love?"

Mia's head snapped up. "I'm not the other woman! I was just... I was waiting for him to sort things out."

She couldn't continue.

She knew it was wrong.

But every time she tried to pull away, Liam would come find her.

He would pour out his troubles.

He'd talk about how much Chloe had sacrificed for him, how much she'd given up, and how he couldn't betray her.

He said he'd lost all feeling for Chloe long ago, that only obligation remained.

He said he knew he was hurting Mia, but he was trapped.

He said someone as kind as Mia would never force him, would never make things difficult for him.

Every time she heard those words, Mia's heart would soften.

She would comfort him, tell him not to rush, that she would wait.

And then, she would give him money.

Buy him cars, apartments, transfer funds to his account.

Natalie rolled her eyes after hearing this. "He's playing you. Can't you see that?"

Mia shook her head. "He's not. He's not that kind of person."

Natalie was speechless.

She looked at Evelyn, who looked at Sebastian.

Sebastian sighed and nodded. "Let her ask him herself."

Mia took a deep breath and walked toward the booth.

Liam was drinking with his arm around Chloe.

Seeing Mia, he froze. "What are you doing here?"

Chloe immediately straightened up, looking Mia up and down with a contemptuous sneer. "You again? Didn't I tell you to stop bothering Liam?"

Mia bit her lip.

She looked directly at Liam. "Yesterday. Did you have someone tamper with my car?"

Liam frowned. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Mia gave a bitter laugh. "I found out, Liam. Why would you do that?"

Before Liam could speak, Chloe stood up.

She crossed her arms, letting out a cold laugh. "Mia Truman, you have the nerve to ask? I'll tell you. I had it done!"

Mia was stunned. "You?"

Chloe lifted her chin. "Yes, me. I wanted to teach you a lesson. To make you understand that a young master like Liam is way out of league for a servant's child like you!"

Mia was completely bewildered. "A servant's child?"

Chloe scoffed. "Aren't you? Liam told me all about it. You're the daughter of a servant in his household. He even paid for your university. What, couldn't find a job after graduation, so you're trying to latch onto him? Dream on! I'm his girlfriend. Give it up!"

Evelyn and Natalie exchanged another glance.

They both looked at Sebastian.

Mia's voice trembled. "Liam, you said that? You told her I'm a servant's child?"

A flicker of panic crossed Liam's face.

He opened his mouth to say something.

But Chloe cut in first. "What, trying to deny it? Liam told me himself. How could it be false?"

Mia stared at Liam.

Her eyes reddened.

Liam avoided her gaze, lowering his voice. "Mia, let me explain..."

"Explain what?" Mia interrupted him. "Explain how you told people I'm your servant's daughter? Explain how you spent my money while belittling me behind my back?"

Liam's face changed color.

Chloe was also taken aback. "Spent your money?"

Mia laughed.

It was a bitter sound.

She pulled a stack of bank transfer records from her bag and slammed them on the table. "Over the past year, I transferred over three million to him. The car, the apartment—it was all my money. Liam, tell me. Where would a servant's daughter get that kind of money?"

Chloe's eyes widened as she looked at Liam. "Liam, is that true?"

Liam's face went pale.

He grabbed Mia's hand. "Mia, listen to me, that's not what I meant..."

Mia shook off his hand.

She took a step back, her voice cold. "Liam, we're done."

With that, she turned and walked away.

Evelyn and Natalie immediately followed.

Sebastian gave Liam one last icy look before turning to leave.

Chloe was still demanding answers. "Liam, what's going on? Who is she really?"

Liam ignored her.

He stared at Mia's retreating back, his eyes dark.

Outside the bar.

Mia stopped.

She looked up at the sky and took a deep, shuddering breath.

Evelyn walked up beside her, speaking softly. "Are you okay?"

Mia shook her head.

She smiled, the expression weary, but her eyes were clearer. "I'm fine. I just suddenly realized how foolish I've been."

Natalie patted her shoulder. "Good that you're awake now. That scumbag isn't worth it."

Mia nodded.

She looked at Sebastian. "Brother, I'm sorry for worrying you."

Sebastian ruffled her hair. "As long as you've learned your lesson. Keep your eyes open from now on."

Mia hummed in agreement.

She took out her phone and dialed a number. "Attorney Miller, I need you to handle something. I want to reclaim all the assets I previously gifted to Liam Cooper. Yes, including the car and the apartment."

Hanging up, she looked at Evelyn and Natalie. "Let's go. I'll treat you to lunch. Thank you for being with me today."

Evelyn smiled. "Alright."

Just as they were about to leave, the bar door burst open.

Liam rushed out.

He ran up to Mia, blocking her path. "Mia, you can't do this to me! That money was a gift! You can't take it back!"

Mia looked at him coldly. "Why can't I? I gave it to you. Now I don't want to. Is there a problem?"

Liam grew frantic. "You... you're kicking down the ladder! I spent so much time with you! What's wrong with spending a little of your money?"

Natalie couldn't listen anymore. "Spent time with her? Doing what? Chatting? Complaining? All while spending her money and telling people she's a servant's daughter? Liam, have you no shame?"

Liam's face turned livid.

He glared at Mia, lowering his voice threateningly. "Mia Truman, don't push me. If you dare take that money back, I'll tell everyone about us! I'll let the whole world know the Truman heiress threw herself at a man and got dumped!"

Mia laughed.

She looked at Liam, her eyes icy. "Go ahead. Tell them. Let's see who they'll believe faster—your story, or the Truman family's cease and desist letter."

Liam was stunned.

Mia didn't look at him again. She turned and left.

Liam stood rooted to the spot, watching her go, his fists clenched tightly.

Chloe ran out of the bar and grabbed his arm. "Liam, what is going on? Who is she really?"

Liam shook her off irritably. "Stop asking!"

Chloe persisted. "You have to tell me! Is that money story true? Have you been lying to me all along?"

Liam glared at her. "So what if I have? What's it to you?"

Chloe was taken aback.

She looked at Liam and suddenly laughed. "Liam, you're something else. Lying to me, and lying to the Truman heiress. Let me tell you, this isn't over."

With that, she too turned and walked away.

Liam stood alone on the empty street, his expression growing uglier by the second.

He took out his phone, scrolled to a number, and dialed.

The call connected. He lowered his voice. "I need you to do something for me. Yes, it's about Mia Truman again. This time, I want to ruin her reputation completely."

Hanging up, he stared in the direction Mia had left, his eyes venomous.

"Mia Truman, you brought this on yourself."
