Chapter 783

Cecilia Evans froze.

She immediately explained, "Aaron, don't believe him! I had no idea you were sick. I just thought taking too much medicine was bad, so I switched them for vitamins! I really didn't know!"

Aaron Truman let out a sigh of relief and looked at Sebastian Truman. "Brother, she didn't know."

Sebastian looked at his younger brother.

Usually quite smart, good at studies, sharp in company matters.

How did his brain just stop working the moment Cecilia was involved?

He turned directly to Cecilia. "Then when did you find out Aaron had colon cancer?"

Cecilia spoke instantly. "Yesterday! Yes, yesterday... I saw Aaron's medical records... I thought he was the one who was sick..."

She looked at Aaron, tears welling up. "Honey, you have to believe me. Why was your name on the medical records?"

Aaron sighed. "I was afraid you'd be upset if you knew, so I've been using my name to take you to appointments."

Cecilia choked back a sob. "Honey, thank you for thinking of me like that... You believe me, right?"

Aaron looked at Sebastian. "Brother, I believe Cecilia."

Sebastian took a deep breath.

Joanna Sterling, standing nearby, suddenly spoke up. "If you only found out yesterday that your husband had colon cancer, then how could our Evelyn possibly have put medicine in the soup to harm him? Don't make baseless accusations..."

Aaron frowned, looking at Cecilia in confusion. "That's right, Cecilia. I'm not sick at all. There's no reason to harm me..."

Cecilia now wished she could slap herself.

If she had known she was the one with colon cancer, how could she have possibly put medicine in the soup?

To cut her own life short?

She bit her lip and suddenly looked at Aaron. "Then they weren't trying to harm you. They were trying to harm me! They must have found out somehow that I have colon cancer and deliberately targeted me!"

Aaron looked dazed.

Cecilia pressed urgently. "Honey, do they know I have colon cancer?"

Aaron remembered when Evelyn Ross and Alexander Vance first visited the Truman home. Sebastian had directly produced Cecilia's medical report.

It was to show the Truman family wouldn't go easy.

Because Cecilia didn't have long to live, the Trumans had to prioritize her.

Aaron looked at Evelyn. "They know..."

Tears rolled down Cecilia's cheeks. "Then they did it on purpose! They weren't trying to hurt you. They were trying to hurt me! Honey, I know my existence is blocking their cooperation with the Truman family. So if they kill me, no one will stand in their way..."

She glared at Evelyn and Alexander with hatred.

If it weren't for them, how could she have ended up like this?

With colon cancer, about to die...

She had looked it up. People didn't live long with this disease.

And on top of that, she had taken the medicine she herself had put in...

Cecilia suddenly relaxed.

They say a dying man's words are kind.

But she wasn't like that.

She didn't want to die.

Even if she had to die, she wouldn't let those left behind live in peace!

She grabbed Aaron's arm. "Honey, they tried to kill me! You have to stand up for me. You have to get revenge for me!"

Aaron immediately stood up, furious as he looked at Evelyn. "Miss Ross, Cecilia already knows she was wrong. She's been apologizing all night! Even if you can't forgive her, was it necessary to go this far?"

Evelyn let out a scornful laugh.

Sebastian spoke. "Calm down, Aaron. This matter isn't clear yet. We don't know for sure who put the medicine in."

Cecilia immediately said, "Sebastian, I know Miss Ross saved you. You want to repay the favor. It's fine. If I die, I die. No one will stand in your way anymore..."

She held Aaron's hand. "Honey, I take back what I just said. Don't seek revenge for me... Just live your life well. I... deserve this!"

Her mind was racing now.

She understood perfectly how to provoke Aaron.

Sure enough, Aaron grew even angrier, shaking off Sebastian's hand. "Brother! I know you're grateful Miss Ross saved you, but they tried to kill my wife! They tried to kill Cecilia! I can't just stand by... I can't tolerate this anymore!"

He turned back to Evelyn. "I'm calling the police. I'm charging you with attempted murder!"

Cecilia shook her head. "Don't call the police... They are, after all, my uncle and aunt. My mother accidentally killed my father... They've always hated me... Maybe it's better if I just die like this. It's a release for me, and for you too. Honey, don't blame your brother. Forget about me."

The more Aaron listened, the redder his eyes became.

He glared angrily at Sebastian. "Brother, I won't let this matter rest today! If you still want to be friends with the Ross and Vance families, then I'll move out of the Truman house!"

Tears fell. "I can't possibly smile and be friendly with the people who tried to murder my wife!"

Cecilia smiled.

Even in death, she had created an enemy for the Vance family.

An enemy they couldn't easily get rid of.

Because he was a Truman.

Even if Aaron couldn't cause real harm to Evelyn and Alexander, he could make their lives miserable!

Cecilia almost wanted to laugh out loud.

But the next moment, Alexander Vance spoke slowly. "There are cameras in the kitchen. Whoever put the medicine in will be clear once we check the footage."
