Eliza, what are you doing here?
Eliza glared at her, her neck stiff, her expression slightly twisted with resentment.
Audrey, she sneered, are you really that proud of getting first place?
Facing Eliza s hateful gaze, a chill ran down Audrey s spine. She said nothing.
Her silence only fueled Eliza s rage.
You won t be proud for much longer, Eliza said coldly.
Before Audrey could react, Eliza suddenly lunged at her.
What are you doing?! Audrey shouted.
Fortunately, she had been on guard and swiftly dodged to the side. But in the next instant, her wrist was seized tightly. Eliza forcefully shoved the handle of a dagger into Audrey s hand.
The icy blade flashed, making Audrey s pupils tremble as she struggled desperately to break free.
Eliza s strength was far greater than Audrey had expected. She clutched Audrey s hand tightly and whispered cruelly,
Audrey, you re finished.
Then she forced Audrey s hand downward
Driving the dagger straight into her own abdomen.
Eliza smiled. It was utterly cold, terrifying to behold.
Warm blood quickly soaked Audrey s palm. She froze, as if her soul had been ripped from her body.
Then Eliza screamed shrilly,
Help! Audrey is killing me!
Urgent footsteps rushed toward the doorway.
Audrey snapped back to reality in shock. She instantly realized Eliza was trying to frame her. Trembling, she tried to fling the dagger away.
But Eliza held her hands firmly, pushing the blade even deeper.
Audrey s mind went completely blank.
She s gone insane, Audrey thought. She s completely lost her mind.
The door burst open.
Dominic rushed in and nearly collapsed at the sight before him.
Audrey! What are you doing?! he shouted in disbelief.
Before his eyes, Audrey appeared to be stabbing Eliza.
Let go of her! Dominic roared.
He charged forward, forcefully shoving Audrey aside.
Audrey stumbled back, almost crashing into the vanity mirror. Just as she thought her face would smash into it, a strong hand grabbed her shoulder.
The next moment, powerful arms wrapped around her.
Alistair pulled her firmly into his embrace.
Are you okay, Audrey?
Hearing that familiar, steady voice, Audrey s eyelashes trembled. Her body had been taut with fear, but it finally relaxed. She clutched Alistair s collar tightly and whispered,
Alistair I m scared.
Concern filled Alistair s narrowed eyes. He held her gently, stroking her hair.
Don t be afraid. I m here. No one will hurt you.
With his reassurance, Audrey gradually calmed down.
She had known Eliza wouldn t let things go after being humiliated on the show but she never imagined Eliza would use the innocent life in her womb to frame her.
Eliza lay weakly in Dominic s arms. Her bloodied hand clutched his sleeve tightly, her eyes filled with desperation and pleading.
Dominic she whispered.
A sharp pain pierced Dominic s heart.
He didn t love Eliza but the child she carried was his flesh and blood. He couldn t let anything happen to it.
Dominic quickly lifted Eliza into his arms and said urgently,
Don t be afraid. I ll take you to the hospital right now. I ll make sure you and the baby are safe.
As he turned to leave, Audrey remained nestled against Alistair.
Dominic s eyes darkened as he demanded,
Audrey, why would you do something like this?
Alistair s expression hardened. He was about to speak up for Audrey
But Audrey spoke faster.
Use your brain, she said coldly. I just got first place. My future is bright. Why would I ruin my life by committing intentional murder over a concert?
Sadly, Dominic didn t listen.
Or perhaps he was simply overwhelmed by emotions.
I saw it with my own eyes! he shouted. Do you still want to deny it?!
Audrey couldn t be bothered arguing with a fool like him.
Before leaving, Dominic turned back and warned harshly,
You d better pray Eliza and the baby are alright. Otherwise, I ll never let you go.
With that, he carried Eliza away.
Audrey watched his retreating figure and thought bitterly,
