Chapter 231

"Why are you yelling at me?! Of course Mommy taught me to knock before entering someone's house, but she never said anything about knocking before barging into a scoundrel's place!" Lily snapped, her voice rising higher than Dominic's as she glared at him with fiery eyes.

It was as if she was challenging him—a battle of wills to see who could be louder, fiercer.

Dominic clenched his jaw.

Scoundrel?

Who the hell taught her that word?

"I didn’t even want to be here! I’m leaving right now!" Lily huffed, hopping off the couch and stomping toward the door, her doll clutched tightly in her arms.

Meanwhile, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after completing a series of routine tests, Evelyn asked Mike for his phone so she could call Clara.

Her own phone was dead, and she needed to reassure her mother that she was safe.

Mike handed his phone over without hesitation.

Clara answered on the second ring.

"It’s me, Mom," Evelyn said, forcing calm into her voice. "I’m fine. I was just exhausted yesterday and fell asleep. Don’t worry—Mike and Henry are with me. We’ll be home soon."

"Oh, thank goodness," Clara sighed in relief. "I’ll start dinner then. Where’s Lily? I know she misses you. Do you want to talk to her?"

Evelyn froze.

"Wait—Mike took Lily with him to find you! Isn’t she with you right now?!"

Evelyn’s blood ran cold.

Her grip on the phone tightened as panic surged through her.

Before she could explode, Mike slapped his forehead. "Oh damn—Lily! She must still be at Dominic Blackwood’s place! I’ll go get her right now!"

Evelyn didn’t hesitate. She was already moving.

"You need to stay here for the test results!" Mike protested.

"You stay here with Henry!" Evelyn snapped, her tone leaving no room for argument. "I’m taking your phone. I’ll meet you back here once I have Lily."

She stormed out of the hospital, flagging down the first cab she saw.

Sliding into the backseat, she pulled out Mike’s phone and dialed Dominic’s number with trembling fingers.

Please, please let Lily still be at the Blackwood mansion.

If she had wandered off somewhere else—

Evelyn couldn’t even finish the thought.

Back at the Blackwood estate, Dominic had scooped Lily up before she could escape, holding her firmly in his arms.

That only made her explode.

"Let me go, you jerk! You’ve hugged other women—I don’t want you touching me!" Lily shrieked, tiny fists pounding against his chest.

Sophia, Dominic’s sister, watched with wide, tear-filled eyes. She wanted to help, but she didn’t dare intervene.

Just then, Dominic’s phone rang.

Mrs. Wilkins quickly handed it to him.

Balancing a squirming Lily in one arm, he answered.

"It’s Evelyn. Is my daughter still with you?" Her voice was frantic. "I’m so sorry—this is all my fault."

Lily’s ears perked up at the sound of her mother’s voice. She snatched the phone from Dominic’s hand.

"Mommy! Is that you?! It’s me, your sweet little Lily!"

Tears welled in Evelyn’s eyes at the sound of her daughter’s voice.

"Lily! I’m so sorry, baby! I didn’t know you came with Mike, and I forgot to take you when we left. Mommy’s coming to get you right now, okay? Don’t be scared—"

"I’m not scared!" Lily chirped confidently. "I knew you’d come for me!"

"Of course I would."

Once she finished, Lily handed the phone back to Dominic—but not before studying his neck with curious eyes.

"Which side did my brother bite you the first time?" she asked sweetly.

Dominic, unsuspecting, pointed to the faint scar.

Lily’s eyes gleamed.

"Oh… There’s still a mark!"

Then—

She sank her teeth into the other side of his neck.

Dominic’s patience snapped.

He had thought she was asking out of concern—maybe even remorse for her brother’s actions.

But no.

This little demon had planned this.

Enough was enough.

Biological daughter or not, Evelyn Thorne’s child was about to learn a very hard lesson.
