Chapter 410

Evelyn's piercing scream shattered the night's silence, sending the bodyguard stationed outside crashing through the door.

Light flooded the room as it swung open violently.

The bodyguard froze at the horrifying scene before him.

"Doctor! Get the doctor now!" His voice cracked with panic as he sprinted toward the bed.

"Get his hand off! Hurry!" Evelyn sobbed desperately.

At first, the bodyguard assumed Evelyn was attacking Dominic. But to his shock, it took all his strength to pry Dominic's fingers from the dagger's hilt.

The truth was undeniable - Dominic was actively trying to end his own life.

This was a suicide attempt.

As soon as the dagger was wrestled from Dominic's grip, Evelyn scrambled off the bed.

The doctor rushed in with his medical kit, only to have it snatched from his hands.

Evelyn immediately began working to stem the bleeding from Dominic's chest wound.

The doctor stood stunned.

"How is she moving so fast? Weren't her legs injured?" he wondered in disbelief.

"She took my medical supplies!" he realized belatedly, shaking himself into action.

Approaching the bed, the doctor gasped at the sight - the dagger still embedded in Dominic's chest, the sheets soaked crimson.

"Uh...uh...uh!"

The bodyguard grabbed Evelyn's arm, attempting to pull her away, but she shook him off with surprising strength.

"Miss Thorne, are you qualified for this? Don't interfere with proper treatment!" The bodyguard frowned, distrust evident in his voice.

Evelyn's eyes burned red. "I can stop the bleeding!" she rasped.

Her strained voice seemed to rouse Dominic, who coughed weakly as consciousness returned.

Through blurred vision, he saw Evelyn - face streaked with tears, clutching medical supplies with trembling hands.

With what little strength remained, he tried pushing her away. Death was his choice. Life offered only pain. Death meant peace.

"Hold him down! All of you, hold him now!" Evelyn batted away Dominic's hands, shouting through her tears at the bodyguard.

The bodyguard immediately pinned Dominic's arms to the bed.

Enraged, Dominic coughed up blood. "How dare you!"

The bodyguard recoiled in fear, releasing his grip. Evelyn shot him an icy glare. "Do you want him to die? Hold him down!"

Of course the bodyguard didn't want his employer dead. He reluctantly obeyed Evelyn.

"Forgive me, Mr. Blackwood. You're losing too much blood. Let Miss Thorne help you! We'll get you to the hospital immediately after!" the bodyguard pleaded.

Dominic's labored breathing filled the room as he glared at Evelyn with bitter resentment. "Stop your fake tears. My death means your freedom. No one will seek revenge for me."

Ignoring his words, Evelyn grasped the dagger's hilt with both hands.

"Dominic, this will hurt." She met his gaze steadily after taking a deep breath.

Dominic's face had gone ghostly pale from blood loss.

His eyes, though wet with unshed tears, remained cold and hopeless. He would never show weakness, even now.

With gritted teeth, Evelyn yanked the dagger free. Blood sprayed across the sheets.

She immediately applied pressure to the wound. Satisfied when the bleeding slowed, she dressed it efficiently with medication and bandages.

When she finished the emergency treatment, she looked down to find Dominic had lost consciousness.

The formidable man now lay vulnerable, his defenses gone. "Get him to the hospital now!" Evelyn ordered hoarsely, her voice breaking with emotion.
