Chapter 351

The clock struck five at Mooncrest Academy.

It was the bodyguard’s first day on duty. After picking up the children, he escorted them home.

"Uncle Bodyguard, can Lily and Henry play outside for a bit?" Lily gazed up at him, her eyes sparkling with mischief. She was testing the limits.

The bodyguard answered firmly, "Of course! But only after dinner."

Lily pouted. "What’s for dinner? Are we ordering takeout, or are you cooking? And when do you get off work?"

The bodyguard chuckled. "I’m off when your mom or Uncle Michael gets home. If you’d like, I can whip something up for you."

Lily tilted her head. "Then do we need to go grocery shopping? If you cook, does Mom have to pay you extra? But what if your food tastes bad? Does she still pay you extra?"

The bodyguard laughed. "Your mom pays me enough to cook ten meals a day for you two!"

With that, he took the kids to the supermarket.

At seven in the evening, his phone buzzed. It was Michael.

"How are the kids?" Michael asked before adding, "I might be late tonight. They go to bed at nine. If Evelyn and I aren’t back by then, you can clock out."

Michael couldn’t find Evelyn. He’d gone to her office, but she wasn’t there.

He’d called her—no answer. When he tried again, her phone was off.

Fury burned through him. Dominic must have taken her. Michael couldn’t reach him either.

Gripping the steering wheel, Michael sped toward Dominic’s mansion, his Bluetooth earpiece crackling. "How can they blame Evelyn for Zoe’s miscarriage? She’d never do something like that!" he ranted to Nathan on the other end.

Nathan sighed. "Mr. Blackwood didn’t come to work today. I heard about Zoe’s situation, but I wasn’t there. I can’t comment. My advice? Don’t lose your temper. They’re adults—they’ll handle it."

"Adults?" Michael scoffed. "Evelyn might be, but your boss? Doubtful. He called her this afternoon and threatened her. I heard every word! If anything happens to her, I swear—"

Nathan’s voice turned icy. "What exactly do you plan to do to Mr. Blackwood?"

"Expose him. I’ve got enough dirt to bury him."

"You’re insane. He’ll have you arrested before you blink." Nathan adjusted his glasses. "Calm down. Let me make some calls and see if anyone knows where he is."

Meanwhile, Evelyn stood in a lavish hotel suite, staring at Dominic in disbelief. He’d summoned her here to "resolve" things.

She hadn’t expected him to confiscate her phone and bring her to a hotel.

"Dominic, how exactly are we resolving this?" she demanded, crossing her arms.

"Let’s eat first." He picked up the room service menu, unfazed.

Evelyn scanned the opulent presidential suite. A sinking feeling settled in her chest.

She marched to the door and yanked it open. Two stone-faced bodyguards blocked her path.

Gasping, she stumbled back and slammed the door.

"Dominic, are you holding me prisoner?" She stormed toward him, snatched the menu, and hurled it to the floor.

Dominic’s gaze turned glacial. "You took my child. Now you’ll give me one in return."
