Holding the processed paperwork, Skylar hurried to the hallway outside the operating rooms. There were people standing and sitting outside several of the

rooms.

As she sent a message to Joe, she glanced at the situation around the operating

area.

Since Caleb's appendectomy was a minor procedure, she wasn't particularly worried. But many of the other families waiting for their loved ones to come out of surgery seemed anxious. Some couldn't hold back their tears due to worry.

Others were comforting their loved ones. By coincidence, sitting nearby, the elderly couple closest to her were holding each other and crying.

The elderly man seemed okay, though his eyes were red, but the elderly woman couldn't stop crying.

At first, Skylar didn't pay much attention to them, but when she overheard the name Theodore, she couldn't help but look over.

Opal Cannon said, "I've told him many times to follow traffic rules, not to speed, but he never listened. Now look at what happened. He's in a car accident, covered in blood. I don't know if he'll make it through."

Warren Webster sighed, shaking his head. "It's useless to talk about it now. Theodore's been a troublemaker since he was a kid. Did he ever listen to you?"

Having a troublesome son was a constant source of worry. Every day, it felt like they were walking on a tightrope, their heart always in their throat, never knowing when something would go wrong.

Opal's voice cracked as she continued, "I just called Lulu, she said she broke up with Theodore. She won't come to the hospital. Why does Theodore have to be so irresponsible? Lulu is such a good woman. He went and cheated on her, breaking her heart."

Losing the daughter-in-law she had hoped for, combined with the uncertainty of her son's condition after the accident, was too much for her to bear.

Skylar was taken aback by what she overheard. It was quite a coincidence to have run into Alina's first love's parents here.

"Theodore's ex-girlfriend is no good. I heard she's with another guy now. Why can't she just move on and stop trying to get Theodore? She's the one who's turned our lives upside down." Opal couldn't help but place all the blame on Alina.

Warren sighed in resignation. "It's pointless to talk about this now. Let's wait until Theodore's out of surgery and doing better, then we can talk with him."

Hearing this, Skylar frowned slightly.

It seemed that recently, there were still some lingering ties between Alina and Theodore. Looking back, it became clear that the things Alina had told her on WhatsApp the last time were not entirely truthful.

When she had first met Alina at Janine's house, she had thought highly of her.

Just as Skylar was thinking about this, Alina suddenly appeared, hurrying over. She didn't see Skylar at first, spotting only Warren and Opal.

"Mr. Webster, Mrs. Webster, how is Theodore doing now?" Alina asked urgently.

When Warren and Opal saw Alina, their expressions shifted dramatically. It had been years since they had last seen her.

Theodore had started dating Alina during college, and his living expenses had increased significantly because of her. At first, he tried to hide it, but eventually, he told them the truth.

They had supported him dating

during college. After all, they understood that young people wanted to experience love, and they knew if they didn't support it he would still find someone on his own.

However, Alina was quite extravagant with her spending. Back then, they had been frugal, carefully managing their finances to support their son's living costs.

Eventually the relationship ended

just before graduation, and they didn't ask too many questions. Now, Alina was back, disrupting Theodore's life once again, and they couldn't help but feel frustrated.

Although Alina was more attractive than Lulu Beck, it didn't matter.

Opal looked displeased and said coldly, "Who told you Theodore is in the hospital?"

"It was Theodore's fiancée who called me," Alina said.

She noticed Opal's cold and judgmental expression and couldn't help but freeze

for a moment.

Since Alina started dating Harvey, she had met Janine twice. Janine was easygoing and elegant, never showing her disapproval.

However, Alina didn't hold it against Opal. Perhaps Opal's harsh demeanor was due to her concern for Theodore.
