Chapter 1783

chapter1783

Hearing that someone else had been involved, Seth was terrified-especially since that someone was a celebrity.

He knew Thelma had become Charles' girlfriend but hadn't expected the two to be traveling together.

Out of fear that the truth might come to light someday and become uncontrollable, Seth had gone to great lengths to find the recording and eliminate the Johnston family entirely.

But now, when he tried to call the person he had hired, he couldn't get through.

Weren't they using a scrapped car? And wasn't the accident staged on a road without surveillance cameras? How could the police have found anything?

A sense of foreboding crept over him. This incident might not end well after all. Unconsciously, sweat formed on his forehead.

"Dad, why aren't you sleeping?"

His daughter, Luna Zaleski, came downstairs and saw Seth pacing and smoking, looking troubled. So, she immediately asked.

Seth, who cared deeply for his family, turned to her and said, "It's nothing. I just couldn't sleep and came down for a smoke. It's only 4:00 am. You should go back to bed."

"Okay, I'll just get some water and go back to bed. Dad, take care of your health," she said.

Seth smiled and nodded. "Alright, alright. Don't worry about me. I'm doing fine."

After Luna had her water and went back upstairs, Seth's expression darkened again.

"This must not spiral out of control! The dead should just stay dead. These days, car accidents happen all the time, and several celebrities have died in them too. So even if Charles is famous, a car accident is still a car accident. If he died, that's his fate!"

Shortly after dawn, Skylar asked Ted to take Janine to the hospital cafeteria for breakfast. She stayed behind to watch over Charles and Thelma. Their hospital rooms were next to each other.

After Janine and Ted left, Skylar said to Joe, "You should go home and rest. There's so much going on at the company, and Charles' condition is stable now. I can manage here on my own. Steven will be coming by later, too."

Joe, who indeed had a lot of work, nodded. "Alright, call me if anything happens."

Mona arrived not long after Joe left.

"How's Charles?" Mona asked.

Skylar shook her head. "Still

unconscious. The doctor said we'll need to monitor him when he wakes up. He has multiple fractures and might not be able to get out of bed for at least a month."

Mona frowned, her face full of concern. "I heard your brother say the driver was

drunk. It's so infuriating how reckless people can be!"

"The exact circumstances are still under investigation, but the driver's family

hasn't shown up yet," Skylar said.

Mona pursed her lips. "I think the police should have notified his family, but if his family didn't come to the hospital, that would truly be a moral issue."

Skylar nodded in agreement. If the roles were reversed and her family had hurt someone, she would definitely do everything possible to make amends and check on the injured person-not remain silent like this. s?novel

"You stayed here all night. Go home and get some rest. I'll let you know when Charles wakes up," Mona said, noticing the dark circles under Skylar's eyes.

Skylar smiled. "I'm not too tired, and I'm not really sleepy either. I'll wait a bit longer-maybe he'll wake up soon."

About two hours later, Thelma was the first to gain consciousness.

When she opened her eyes, her head felt heavy, and she was nauseous. She looked around the hospital room for a while before gaining her senses.

It also took her a moment to remember what had happened before she lost consciousness.

The car accident!
