Chapter 1866
chapter1866
Vivian suddenly saw a man.
The man stood tall, his presence cold and commanding. Although she could only see his back, an undeniable aura made her hold her breath, a pressure that could almost be felt.
The figure was somewhat unfamiliar but also strangely familiar.
But for some reason, a sense of loneliness emanated from his back, a deep solitude that made her heart ache. She paused for a moment, then stepped forward.
As she got closer to his back, it felt as though an invisible barrier was separating them, preventing her from getting any closer. Then, she fell into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, outside her blanket, the bracelet on her wrist faintly glowed. Just as Harvey came in to check her temperature, he almost dropped the infrared thermometer in his hand.
His eyes widened as he stared at the glowing bracelet on Vivian's wrist.
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would have thought there was something wrong with his vision. It was just too surreal.
By the time he reacted and tried to grab his phone to record it, the glow had already faded.
Harvey hesitated but ultimately decided not to wake Vivian.
The events of today were enough to shake his understanding of reality. But he remembered what Skylar had told them a few years ago—that she and Joe would face a great trial, and so would Vivian. She had reassured them that it was something they all had to go through.
The bracelet, Skylar and Joe's disappearance, the mysterious tree, and the copper mirror Vivian mentioned earlier had to be connected.
He decided to wait until tomorrow when Vivian woke up and asked her if she had experienced anything similar with the bracelet before.
In a small, dilapidated storage shed, the wind howled through the cracks.
Zea and Cyril, huddled together in the corner among the straw, trying to use it to shield themselves from the cold wind.
The entire storage shed was drafty, with the cold wind seeping through every crack. The straw they used to insulate themselves was just as cold, offering no warmth at all.
"Mom, I'm so cold. I'm so hungry. Can you please beg Manfred for help? Maybe he can give us a blanket or at least some food!" Cyril was already emaciated, his body barely recognizable.
After enduring two years of unbearable hardship, the once proud scion of the prestigious Atkinson family had lost all his dignity. He would do anything for a bite to eat.
"It's useless to beg him! Just endure
a little longer. In a couple of days, he'll surely send food and a blanket," Zea said, her voice lacking the authority of the proud woman she had once been.
Since the Holland family returned to Vlario two years ago, all her past deeds had been exposed, and Manfred had locked her away.
These past two years, she and Cyril had been subjected to torment. The way they had once treated Manfred, he now repaid them with the same cruelty.
Cyril couldn't take it anymore. "It's so cold! My skin is covered in frostbite, and my toes feel like they've frozen off! I just want to eat some chicken legs and some beef ribs! I can't stand eating scraps anymore."
Zea felt utterly helpless. She regretted everything.
If she had known this would happen, she would never have treated Manfred that way. She should never have foolishly believed the Hollands wouldn't stand up for him.
And she should never have underestimated him. The life they were now living, Manfred had endured for years! She regretted it all.
But Manfred was heartless. No matter how much she and Cyril begged or apologized, he never showed any mercy. He had locked them up here, declaring to the outside world that they had gone mad, before leaving Vlario
They had once hoped that Randall would save them, but...
