Chapter 1758
chapter1758
Thelma was still trembling with fear. Outside, Warwick stood persistently knocking on her door. Her neighbors would soon begin to wonder what was going on.
Taking a deep breath, Thelma called Warwick.
From the other side of the door, she could hear Warwick's phone ringing.
"Can you just leave me alone? Stop bothering me!" Thelma bit her lip, her voice firm as she made her demand.
Warwick scoffed, "You think I'll just walk away? After all these years of waiting for you, you think a simple request will make me leave?"
"Are you not afraid I'll call the police?" Thelma asked, though she already knew Warwick wasn't the type to be easily intimidated. Still, she hadn't expected him to be so shameless.
Another cold laugh came from Warwick. "Call the police? You wouldn't dare. The moment you do, it's over for you. Do you think Charles can save you? Once the police are involved, your career will be ruined. The only thing that will be in the news is how you seduced me and Charles.
"Us male actors can get away with it, but you? You'll be done for. I know you're currently filming a drama with him. When that project collapses because of you, who will dare work with you again?"
He had thought through the consequences before showing up at her door. Thelma's greatest weakness was her care for her benefactors and those she loved.
"You're shameless!" she cried, her breath sharp as her eyes filled with tears. "Fine, stay out there. I'll never meet you."
She couldn't believe Warwick was still so relentless, still trying to ensnare her. She didn't want to drag Charles into this mess.
"You won't meet me?" Warwick's voice was icy, his anger barely contained. "Do you really think I'll just let you go without resolving this? I've never suffered such a loss. I told you years ago you're supposed to be mine, and I won't let you be with Charles."
The mention of Charles made his voice tremble with barely concealed rage. If it weren't for Charles, Thelma would already be his.
For years, Warwick had tried to break her spirit. Warwick wouldn't be standing at her door tonight if Charles hadn't interfered.
Feeling numb and disconnected, Thelma ended the call. She couldn't stand hearing his words anymore-each one felt like an insult.
Outside, Warwick sneered, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the door. He continued to knock. "Open up."
Thelma remained unresponsive.

She glanced at the time. There was no traffic at this hour, so Charles should be arriving soon. There was no need to fear Warwick anymore. Reassuring herself with this thought, the sound of knocking seemed to fade into the background.
Warwick hadn't expected her to stay so indifferent, letting him continue banging on the door.
When neighbors returned and saw
him knocking, they gave him curious glances. Some, unable to tolerate the noise, told him to lower his voice and suggested he call her if she wasn't home.
Warwick wore a hat and kept his head down so no one recognized him.
He had made up his mind. He was determined to see Thelma and force her to leave Charles. The woman he had set his sights on would never belong to Charles.
"Warwick, are you out of your mind? Are you trying to cause trouble for one of the celebrities in my studio?"
As soon as Charles stepped out of the elevator, he walked straight toward Warwick.
Though they were roughly the same height, Charles' disciplined fitness regimen made him appear far more imposing. With one swift push, he sent Warwick crashing into the wall.
The cold ceramic wall made Warwick wince in pain, a groan escaping him as the impact stung.
"I'm looking for my girlfriend. What's it to you? Stay out of this, Charles," Warwick hissed, warning him in a low voice.
Being public figures, they were all terrified of bad press. So when Warwick saw Charles, he knew better than to cause a scene.
Charles rolled his eyes. "Girlfriend? Are you delusional? Since when did Thelma become your girlfriend? If you were actually serious about pursuing her, you'd make it public. Don't you feel embarrassed saying that?" .
