Chapter 1885
chapter1885
Vivian and Manfred got into a carriage and headed to another bustling market street. Along the way, they stopped at several places that piqued Vivian's interest.
However, what intrigued her the most was still copper mirrors. Whether it was a small street stall or a shop, she inspected every copper mirror she came across.
From morning until noon, Manfred patiently accompanied her.
They cooperated seamlessly-when others were around, Manfred acted as if he were casually browsing to avoid drawing attention or appearing like he was talking to himself.
Unfortunately, after an entire day of searching, Vivian still didn't find a mirror that gave her the feeling she was looking for.
In truth, she realized she was being overly hopeful. If her parents had been searching for so long without success, how could she expect to find it so quickly or easily?
It all depended on fate.
But she firmly believed that her diligence would be rewarded. As long as she kept searching, she was sure she would find the mirror—and reunite with her parents.
When they were alone, Manfred voiced his curiosity. "Why are you so particularly interested in copper mirrors?"
And why did she only look but never buy? He could tell she was searching for one that truly met her expectations.
Despite seeing many exquisitely crafted mirrors today, none had satisfied her. There had to be a deeper reason behind it.
Vivian explained, "Before I came to find you, I had a dream. In it, I overheard my parents talking. They're lost in this world and can't return home.
"If I can find the copper mirror that will take them back, they can finally go home. Oh, I forgot to mention-my parents went missing several years ago."
Manfred froze for a moment, then felt a sudden urge to pull her into his arms. And he did just that.
Vivian was momentarily stunned when he embraced her but quickly hugged him back with a smile. "I'm fine, don't worry. My parents always told me that no matter what happens, I should never lose hope in the future.
"So I firmly believe I'll find them one day. And if... if I can't, I still trust that wherever they are, they're living happily."
To her, her parents were capable of anything.
Manfred gently stroked her hair. "They'll be safe and sound. And you, too, will be very happy."
As long as she came to him, he would always protect her. He would protect only her.
They wandered until the afternoon when Vivian's stomach growled, reminding her she hadn't eaten all day.
Manfred took her to a restaurant.
After their meal, though it was

already dark, Manfred didn't take her back to the Atkinson residence Instead, they headed to a dock. He planned to take her on a lake cruise.
The lake was filled with boats, all adorned with lanterns, creating a picturesque
scene.
"It's so beautiful," Vivian exclaimed in admiration.
Manfred smiled. "Which one do you like? Let's pick one."
Vivian pointed to a boat. "That one."
The boats were largely similar, with only subtle differences in their exteriors.

After boarding their chosen boat, they ordered two pots of tea from the owner.
The interior of the boat was warm, thanks to a brazier providing heat.
As soon as they sat down, a musician began playing an instrument nearby. With the melody

tea and admired the lake, feeling utterly relaxed.
"Look at the moon," Manfred said, pointing at a crescent moon hanging high in the
sky.
