Chapter 1756

chapter1756

Joe smiled. "I just got off the plane and will be home soon."

"What? Aren't you supposed to be back tomorrow?" Skylar asked, surprised.

They had spoken on the phone earlier that morning and agreed to meet the next day, so she hadn't expected him to return so soon.

"The work's done, and I changed my flight," Joe explained. He didn't want to waste any more time away from home.

"I'll be waiting for you at home. Is there anything you'd like to eat? I can make something for you now," Skylar said, her mood lifting.

Skylar knew precisely what Joe would want to eat without him needing to say it. He must not have been eating well during his time abroad.

Joe truly wanted to eat something Skylar made. "I like everything you make. Anything works for me."

He hadn't been hungry on his way back, but now, during the conversation with Skylar, his appetite suddenly kicked in. His expression softened, and warmth radiated from his features.

A few of his employees who were with him noticed the rare tenderness in Joe's demeanor. It was obvious to them that he was on the phone with his wife.

As for thoughts about Beata, they could all see through her intentions. Such a beauty was hard for any man to resist. Yet, Joe hadn't spared her a second glare. But they couldn't deny that Skylar was also an exceptional beauty.

It was unfortunate that Beata was a stunning woman who stirred emotions that were difficult to suppress.

...

One month later, at Janine's house, the family gathered once again for their monthly gathering. Everyone had shown up today.

As Charles entered, it was clear he hadn't removed his makeup. The vintage style lingered on his face, and his clothes were still the same.

"I'll go upstairs and change first," he said.

After changing, he came downstairs to find Skylar and Harvey chatting. Joe and Steven were talking nearby while Mona was speaking with Janine.

The children were playing together.

Ted walked over with a fruit tray and joined Steven and Joe, and before long, the three of them were engaged in conversation.

They always seemed to have plenty to talk about.

Coming from the entertainment industry, Ted often found it challenging to connect with them. But today, he had a question he was eager to ask Harvey.

"Planning to move back to the countryside for a while? The house there has been empty for years, so if you decide to go back, it'll probably need some repairs. What made you think of going back home?" Skylar asked, surprised by Harvey's plan.

Harvey replied, "Lately, life has been moving too fast. I needed a place to unwind, so thought of returning home. I haven't been there in years, and the house must be in bad shape by now. I'll get someone to renovate it properly while I'm there."

"Still not over the breakup?" Charles asked.

Harvey rolled his eyes. "Come on, Charles, do you think I'm that sentimental?"

Skylar chuckled softly.

"I don't think you're that type either,

but if you're thinking about going to the house in the countryside for some peace, you should reconsider. The relatives there won't give you any peace. You'd be better off finding a beach house on an island for a while."

Over the past few years, the relatives on Finn's side had occasionally tried to ask for favors from them. The troublesome relatives seemed to appear one after another. That was why Harvey should give up on the idea of going back home.

Harvey hadn't anticipated the situation with his relatives. "An island?"

"Yeah, I can recommend a few. I've been to a few islands for filming these past few years. They're not crowded, and the scenery is nice," Charles said, already searching for options on his phone.

"You're right, an island sounds great," Skylar added, also leaning toward the idea of an island getaway to unwind.

The situation back home had gotten more complicated, and Finn might have made contact with their relatives, stirring up some trouble now and then.

Harvey gave it a serious thought. "Alright, let's go to an island."

"By the way, do you want to meet Thelma? I signed her up for my studio," Charles said, glancing at Harvey.

Surprised, Harvey asked, "You signed Thelma?"

Charles lowered his gaze, sounding nonchalant. "Didn't you say she was your

high school classmate and asked me to look out for her? I saw that the company she was with before wasn't great, so I brought her over."
