Chapter 1951
chapter1951
Vivian's gaze flickered slightly.
Looking at Manfred, who was concerned about her, her heart tightened. There were things she couldn't bring herself to say. She shook her head. "I'm fine. It's just that I haven't eaten for over two days, so I feel weak and a bit drained."
In truth, she wasn't hungry at all.
"I'll have someone bring food right away." Manfred immediately stood up and walked toward the door, instructing someone outside to bring food.
As Vivian watched his tall figure standing at the door, her eyes reddened. Her nose tingled, and a wave of reluctance washed over her.
She didn't want to let him go. But deep down, she knew she didn't belong here. The repeated forced departures had been a constant reminder-she didn't belong here.
Taking a deep breath, she forced a smile when Manfred turned back to look at her.
"Manfred, I'd like some sandwiches. Do you have any?"
Manfred's eyes softened as they rested on her, his smile gentle and warm. "Of course. You can have anything you want."
Seven days later, Vivian hadn't left the mansion much during this time.
Manfred had been unusually busy these past few days. The two could only share a quick breakfast, as he didn't return until the late hours of the night.
To avoid causing trouble for him, Vivian stayed within the mansion, knowing that Briarpatch was in a state of chaos.
People now knew she was Manfred's fiancée, and she didn't want to risk being used by those with ill intentions. It was safer for her to remain inside.
During this time, she spent her days studying the copper mirror.
The copper mirror wasn't a negative item, but it did hold extraordinary significance. The person who forged it had poured all of their effort and love into
the creation. This devotion had given the mirror a unique purpose.
Over these days, she had started to see glimpses of the copper mirror's past and present.
The copper mirror held a thousand-year legacy, with its original owner resembling Skylar. She came from a prestigious family, but unfortunately, her love with the one she cherished couldn't come to fruition because of their vastly different social statuses.
This copper mirror was a wedding gift from her beloved.
However, on the day of her wedding, the original owner disappeared with the copper mirror.
She secluded herself in the deep forest and lived a life of solitude until her passing.
She never reunited with her lover because she feared causing him trouble. Her prestigious family's methods were unimaginably cruel.
Though they were never united, both of them carried each other in their hearts until the day they died. One remained unmarried, and the other was left a widow. fo
Afterward, the copper mirror changed hands many times.
All the subsequent owners were able to unite with their loved ones and live a happy life until the end.
The reason it ended up being pawned was that Briarpatch had become too
chaotic, and the copper mirror was stolen by thieves.
Then, fate led Manfred to see it.
It felt as though everything was destined. Vivian's parents had to this strange world a few years
and it seemed their time to
home had come.
As for Manfred, Vivian hoped he would meet someone he truly cared for, and they
would grow old together. That was her most sincere wish for him.
If she were to be selfish, she would hope that Manfred would never forget her, this fleeting visitor in his long life.
"Still looking at the copper mirror?" Suddenly, Manfred's voice came from the doorway.
His soft, magnetic voice made Vivian's heart flutter. She looked up at him, momentarily lost in thought.
"Yeah, come take a look."
Manfred walked over to her.
"Look at this flower. Feel it with your hand," Vivian said, pointing to a peony on the
back of the copper mirror.
