Chapter 1947

chapter1947

Manfred liked it when Vivian called him by his name.

Every time she did, he was always pleased. This Mabel was asking for trouble.

"Ms. Martin, let me handle her," Kemp immediately said to Vivian.

Vivian glanced at him and replied calmly, "Just let her go. There's no need to make things difficult for her."

She wasn't fond of petty rivalries. Moreover, she could tell Mabel had feelings for Manfred, which explained the confrontation.

Kemp nodded in understanding, agreeing without question. Vivian turned to leave.

Mabel felt utterly humiliated. Her face burned with shame as she shouted at Vivian, "Don't go! You need to explain yourself first. Are you a spy? I'm a woman, and I won't be charmed by you."

"Are you out of your mind, Mabel!" Just then, Cody arrived, overhearing Mabel's words and looking horrified.

He immediately approached and slapped Mabel hard across the face. "You're insane!"

Mabel staggered backward from the force of the slap, her face burning. Once she regained her balance, she glared at Cody and shouted, "Cody, you've been deceived! You've all been deceived."

"Deputy General Lynch, take her away and make sure she leaves Briarpatch immediately!" Kemp ordered coldly.

"Kemp, don't you realize you've been deceived too? Women know other women best! You're close to Mr. Atkinson. You must warn him so that he doesn't get tricked. I have a feeling she's a fraud, using her looks to fool him."

Mabel was furious. She couldn't believe that almost everyone was defending Vivian. It wasn't fair. She wondered if it was because Vivian was more beautiful than her.

That face-maybe it was a disguise.

Cody was nearly terrified out of his wits. Without hesitation, he slapped Mabel across the face again.

"Shut up! You're never setting foot in Vlario again! I'm sending you back home right now and have our uncles and aunts deal with you!"

For years, he had indulged his only sister, thinking it was harmless to spoil her a little. But now, he realized he had raised someone completely reckless and oblivious to consequences.

Mabel's head spun from the blows. Her vision blurred, and she could barely stay on her feet.

Cody had spent years on the battlefield, and his strength was far beyond that of an ordinary man. The slaps he delivered in his fury were full force, and Mabel was not only left dizzy, but her face also swelled visibly within moments.

She had no choice but to let herself be dragged away by Cody.

The maids nearby watched the scene unfold with hushed murmurs.

No one had ever seen Mabel act so unhinged before. Today, for some reason, she had lost all sense of reason.

Her brother had arrived, and Kemp was there too, making everything crystal clear. But she still acted like she had lost her mind, spouting nonsense that only created more trouble for herself. '

She had always been a smart and clever woman, but now she seemed to have lost her wits. It was hard to understand how someone who used to be so sharp could suddenly become so clueless.

It was obvious to anyone who paid attention that Manfred had never shown any special interest in Mabel.

Once Cody took Mabel away, Kemp immediately turned to Vivian, afraid she might misunderstand. "Ms. Martin, Mabel was acting on her delusions.

"For the past

t two years, we've all known about her feelings, but out of respect for Deputy General Lynch, we didn't make things clear. Mr. Atkinson has never had any such intentions for her. Please don't worry."

If Vivian misunderstood, that would be a real disaster.

She simply nodded and said, "It's fine."

She wanted to say something more, but when the words reached her lips, she found herself unsure of what to say.

Later, back in her room, she sat down with a book in her hands. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't focus.

Her thoughts were a mess.

She realized now-she liked Manfred. Otherwise, she wouldn't care if he liked someone else.
