Chapter 1792
chapter1792
On the sixth floor, there was only one ravioli restaurant, and it wasn't crowded.
Across from it was a trendy restaurant that had recently gone viral. Despite its high prices, it was bustling with people, many drawn to its social-media-friendly aesthetics.
After sitting down, Natalie glanced at the restaurant and commented, "I've never thought Wiscadian food was that good. I don't get why so many people flock there."
"Raviolis are still the best," Skylar said with a smile.
"I agree." Natalie laughed, but her expression froze mid-chuckle. She fell silent for
a few moments, which made Skylar curious.
Following Natalie's gaze, Skylar asked, "What's wrong?"
"Isn't that Annie? If I'm not mistaken, she's really famous now," Natalie said, gesturing toward a spot ahead and to the left.
It had been years since she'd seen Annie, and they hadn't kept in touch. She hadn't expected to run into her at the mall today.
Skylar was also surprised to see Annie.
Though they had all been living in Jipsburg for years, they rarely crossed paths. A few years back, Annie had been a popular influencer with high sales in her live- streamed product promotions.
Recently, her streaming activity had decreased, reportedly due to health issues caused by years of intense work.
"She's lost quite a bit of weight," Skylar noted.
Natalie nodded. "If I weren't paying attention, I wouldn't have recognized her. She really looks so much thinner."
Annie had entered another restaurant. A few fans had already recognized her and greeted her warmly. Annie responded to them with patience and friendliness.
She was dining with a man who seemed familiar.
"I've seen this guy in her videos while scrolling through social media. I think he's her boyfriend, who apparently started as her assistant," Natalie shared, spilling some gossip.
If her family hadn't faced hardships back then, Annie might have remained a TV program host instead of becoming an influencer. Her life would likely have been very different.
Now, her entire family relied on her for support, which was reportedly a source of frustration for her. Some fans even compared her family to vampires, draining her.
Skylar was already aware of much of what Natalie was saying-social media made it easy to keep up with such news.
"Her assistant?" Skylar said in mild surprise.
"Yeah. Her fans believed their love for each other was true love since they've weathered hardships together.
"But honestly, don't like the way her assistant looks at her in the videos. It doesn't seem like the gaze of
judging by appearances or letting first impressions cloud my view," Natalie said.

Sometimes, people simply just didn't vibe with each other. A single glance could
create a sense of incompatibility, making further interaction undesirable.
Skylar was intrigued by Natalie's remarks and glanced at Annie's assistant.
The assistant was young, probably under 30 So, their relationship appeared to be of a May-December dynamic, but Annie's excellent self-care and physique minimized the visible age gap.
From a distance, the two seemed to be chatting while eating. Their expressions and conversation weren't discernible from afar.
Just then, Annie looked over toward Skylar and Natalie's direction. Her glance appeared casual and unintended. And it seemed she didn't expect to see Skylar.
Skylar smiled and nodded briefly before returning to her meal with Natalie.
However, Annie's expression faltered after spotting Skylar. Her face suddenly became pale and uneasy.
