Chapter 1826
chapter1826
Manfred's gaze remained cold as he looked at Randall and Zea, both
unconscious. His expression remained unreadable. Yet, the weariness in his eyes seemed to reflect a world of sorrow, evoking a sudden pang of sympathy in
Vivian.
She moved closer to him, her voice soft. "I've taken care of them for you. They'll be bedridden for days after the scare I gave them."
At her words, Manfred's eyes shifted. He smiled warmly at Vivian.
The maids, who had been slow to react, now panicked as they realized the situation. "Mr. Randall! Mrs. Atkinson!"
"Hurry! Call the doctor!"
"Quickly!"
Amid the chaos, Manfred took Vivian's hand and led her away. They then returned to his modest, secluded courtyard.
"This is the cake I told you about, the one I love the most. And this pasta is still hot; it has just been cooked. Try the pasta first, and then we'll eat the cake together."
Vivian opened the package and gestured for Manfred to sit down.
Manfred noticed there was only one serving of pasta. "Aren't you eating?"
"I had lunch earlier, so I'm not hungry. The pasta for you," she explained with a smile.
"Alright," Manfred replied, slowly eating, savoring every bite. He enjoyed everything that Vivian liked to eat.
"This is delicious, the best pasta I've ever had," Manfred said.
Vivian immediately replied, "I also think this fettuccine Alfredo is incredibly authentic."
Although Manfred hadn't eaten anything today and was a bit hungry, he ate slowly, savoring the taste. He wanted to remember this flavor so that he could make it for Vivian in the future.
Afterward, they shared the cake.
"You're a dessert lover too. Next time I come, I'll bring you all kinds of desserts."
Vivian was surprised to discover that Manfred had quite a sweet tooth. The eight- inch cake, which she had only taken a slice of, was nearly devoured by him.
Manfred's cheeks flushed slightly as he admitted. "Yes, I do like them."
It was the first time he had lost control of his cravings in front of Vivian. Afterward, he got up and walked over to the bedside. He retrieved a wooden box from beneath the bed and brought it to her. s?novel
"This is for you. You can exchange it for your local currency and use it to buy more things. This gold hairpin should be worth quite a bit," Manfred said, not wanting Vivian to feel like she was the only one giving.
He didn't feel entitled to keep accepting her generosity without offering something
in return. He promised himself that he would do more for her in the future.
When Vivian opened the wooden box, a beautifully crafted gold hairpin caught her eye.
Vivian had a keen understanding of antiques, and she recognized the value of the piece immediately.
"For me? This is too valuable. The food I brought wasn't expensive. This gold hairpin is worth a fortune. You should keep it. You'll have many uses for money in the future."
Manfred was indifferent to such
material things. "This is part of my
mother's wedding gift. Everything in the house, from clothing to
necessities, belongs to her. be taking them back eventually.
Vivian froze for a moment, then asked, "Mrs. Atkinson... She's not your biological mother, is she?"
It didn't make sense that someone would mistreat their own child like that. Moreover, Manfred didn't resemble her at all, unlike Cyril, who looked strikingly similar to Zea.
Manfred nodded. "She's my mother's cousin."
"What?" Vivian was taken aback, her eyes widening in shock.
Seeing her reaction, Manfred quickly changed the subject. "By the way, what's
this cake made of?"
