Chapter 1725
chapter1725
Skylar said, "Mom, Harvey has always been someone with his own mind. We should respect his decision. It's only been a short time since the breakup, so he might not be feeling great."
Janine understood now. It wasn't just a simple argument. "Do you know why they broke up?"
She had always had a good impression of Alina. It was rare for Harvey to harbor feelings for a woman, and yet, they broke up so soon.
"Now that they've broken up, the reason isn't as important," Skylar replied, feeling no need to tell Janine about Alina's betrayal.
Janine wasn't the type to pry into things anyway. As a mother who had raised all her children on her own, Janine knew that when they didn't speak about something, it probably wasn't a good reason. So, she decided not to ask.
"Alright, make sure to spend more time talking to him. Harvey isn't someone who dwells on things, but it's still tough after ending a relationship. He listens to you the most. After some time, I'll invite both of you over for dinner," Janine suggested. Skylar smiled as she listened. "Vivian misses your cooking."
"I miss Vivian too. But aren't you still busy with work? And Joe, too? How about you send Vivian to me this weekend? I'll have her play with Ted and me," Janine said.
As soon as she heard Vivian's name, all her sadness about not having a daughter-in-law vanished. Right now, nothing was more important than her granddaughter.
After the call with Janine ended, Skylar turned to Joe, who was having lunch with her. During lunch break, Joe happened to be nearby, so the two of them went to a nearby restaurant to have lunch together.
"Harvey won't let a relationship weigh him down. Don't worry," Joe said.
Skylar nodded. "I'm not too worried."
"When do you think the current project will wrap up?" Joe asked.
During this time, the two of them
barely saw each other except at night when they went to bed. The time they spent together as a couple had been significantly reduced There were things they wanted to do but just couldn't find the time.
On top of that, Joe felt sorry for her, knowing how exhausted she was from her work, and didn't want to burden her further. Yet, deep down, he was struggling both physically and emotionally.
After years of marriage, Skylar could instantly understand what Joe was thinking from the way he shot her a sly glance. Her ears turned slightly red. "I won't be working late tonight," she said softly.
Joe's eyes lit up at her words. "Then I'll get everything ready."
Skylar was momentarily speechless. The restaurant was crowded, but when their gazes met, there was quiet tension in the air-unspoken, yet palpable. It was clear what would happen later that evening.
Late at night, after an intense, passionate moment, Skylar stretched her aching back and legs as she made her way to the bathroom.
When she stepped out, she didn't find Joe in their room. But she did hear the sound of his voice coming from the next room-he was speaking to Vivian.
Vivian had woken up in the middle of the night again. Skylar immediately walked over to the door.
"Dad, I had a dream just now, and this time remember it. An old lady told me that someone was waiting for me and that she needed me. She told me to grow up well, and to learn more things from you and Mom."
Vivian's soft, sweet voice rang out clearly in the quiet night.
Skylar stopped at the door, her hand resting on the handle. Normally, Vivian would forget her dreams after waking up in the middle of the night, often mentioning that
it felt like the same dream.
But this time, she could recall it.
