Chapter 1730

chapter1730

"Alina, is money all you care about now? Are you rejecting me and my family just because Harvey is rich?" Theodore stubbornly latched onto this idea.

Alina realized just how ridiculous she had been during this time. "Think whatever you want. Just don't bother me anymore!"

With that, she ended the call.

Looking back at her conversation with Godfrey, she felt her heart ache as if it were being torn apart.

After calming herself, she thought about apologizing to Harvey. She wanted to call him but couldn't muster the courage.

She didn't know how to face Harvey. In the end, she could only send him a text. "I'm sorry."

But that text seemed to disappear into the void, with no response from Harvey.

She knew she shouldn't expect any reply from him. Yet, deep down, a voice kept whispering that maybe, just maybe, Harvey would forgive her one day.

But she knew better. That was just a fleeting hope-a wishful, extravagant dream.

When Charles heard about Harvey's breakup, his jaw almost dropped to the floor. That afternoon, after finishing his scenes, he quickly changed clothes, requested leave from the crew, and headed straight to Galaxy Villa.

Skylar wasn't home, but Joe and Vivian were.

On his way, Charles had the foresight to buy toys and books, which he eagerly presented to Vivian as soon as he arrived.

"Look at the toys I got you! These

?

are the latest, most popular dolls for girls! And these picture books

read through them on the way here, and they're fantastic!"

Vivian wasn't particularly interested in dolls. Recently, she had been fascinated by books on ancient

artifacts and enjoyed nea

coins.

old

Still, she didn't want to disappoint her uncle, so she nodded enthusiastically. "Thank you, Uncle Charles. I love them!"

Charles beamed with pride. "If you ever want anything, just let me know! I will get it for you!"

Charles really had a way with kids. Even Steven's two children adored him. And now, he had won over Vivian, too.

With kids like them around, who needed his own? Charles was already planning on relying on them to take care of him in his old age.

Joe glanced at the toys Charles had brought and smirked faintly.

"Joe, when is Skye coming home?" Charles asked, checking the time. It was already past five, but Skylar hadn't returned.

"She'll be back soon," Joe replied.

Noticing that Joe was as quiet and reserved as ever, Charles's lips twitched. "Okay, I'll wait."

"What do you want for dinner?" Joe asked.

Charles wasn't picky. He'd eaten a big lunch and wasn't very hungry. "Anything is

fine. I'll eat whatever you guys are having."

The real reason Charles had come

was to find out why Harvey had

broken up. He couldn't ask Harvey

directly-he knew his brother

wouldn't tell him.

Joe immediately saw through Charles's intentions. He might be good at acting,

but outside of work, he wasn't exactly subtle.
