Chapter 1768
chapter1768
On the way back, Skylar reached out to Aiken. After discussing the situation, she was about to end the call when Aiken stopped her.
"Has Wendy contacted you recently?" Aiken asked.
Skylar was surprised. She hadn't expected Aiken to ask about Wendy. She had assumed Aiken had moved on, especially now that he seemed serious about Zera. But it appeared he hadn't fully let go of Wendy.
After a brief pause, Skylar replied, "No, she's probably been busy. Do you still have feelings for her?"
Aiken fell silent. A minute passed before he spoke again. "She's someone I once loved. I just hope she's doing well."
Skylar raised an eyebrow. "Wendy is a strong person. She'll be fine wherever she goes. I'm sure she wishes the same for you."
Skylar knew Wendy was a kind-hearted person who, despite her hardships, showed kindness toward the world and the people around her. Such a person deserved to be treated well. But Aiken...
Well, everyone had their own choices. As a friend, Skylar couldn't help but feel regret about how things had turned out for them.
"Even with how I treated her, she still wished me well. Sometimes, Skylar, I feel a bit despicable," Aiken admitted. He knew these were words he could only share with her.
Skylar hesitated before asking, "What about Zera?"
Aiken chuckled. "She's not even close to Wendy. Honestly, she doesn't deserve to be compared."
Skylar wasn't sure whether to feel pleased for Wendy or sorry for her.
Some people could compartmentalize love and desire so clearly, even when knowing their actions might hurt others. They simply couldn't control themselves.
"Alright, I know you're busy, so I
won't take up more of your time. I'll need some time to look into this matter. It sounds a bit complicated, and I'meed to investigate carefully," Aiken said, shaking off his tangled thoughts. Realizing he had shared too much, he decided to end the conversation there.
Skylar responded with a simple "Okay" before ending the call.
Noticing the call had ended, Charles said, "The situation with Aiken and Zera is
attracting a lot of attention. Zera's been acting pretty arrogant lately."
"Yeah, I've noticed," Skylar replied, not wanting to discuss Zera further.
Charles saw her reluctance and didn't press the topic. Nearby, Thelma, still absorbed in her thoughts, appeared lost in memories, likely trying to recall events from a few years ago.
The next day, Charles and Thelma arrived on set, one after the other.
Their relationship had yet to be made public.
Due to the ongoing variety show, rumors had started to swirl, though Charles didn't mind. He was open to revealing their relationship, but- Thelma felt her family situation was still complicated. She wanted to focus on building her career, acting
more, and earning enough money to resolve her matters first.
Once things improved, she'd
announce their relationship, hoping she could offer Charles something positive-something that would make people believe his choice to be with her was the right one.
However, the atmosphere on set felt off that day. The director called Charles over
while Thelma stood nearby, looking confused.
The director told Charles, "We're considering replacing Thelma in her current
role."
