Chapter 1807
chapter1807
Vivian laughed, "I would never be shy with Uncle Charles."
Charles and Thelma truly were the epitome of the perfect couple in the entertainment industry. They opted not to have children, and their careers continued to flourish.
When Vivian arrived at Galaxy Villa, she was greeted by a pile of packages at the door-items she had ordered the day before for Manfred.
Shopping in Jipsburg was incredibly convenient. She could place an order one day, and it often arrived the next. The longest wait was just three days.
Vivian carried the packages inside and unpacked them, checking everything was there. Satisfied, she quickly packed the items into a bag.
Just as she finished tidying up, Edgar arrived.
"Vivian, I've missed you so much! Why didn't you tell me in advance you were coming home?" Edgar said, holding two large grocery bags filled with fresh ingredients he'd picked up on his way.
It was a rare occasion for Vivian to be home, and Edgar intended to make all her favorite dishes. When Vivian saw him, she immediately ran to hug him. "I missed you too, Edgar."
This semester had been hectic for Vivian. Between schoolwork and activities, she hadn't visited home as often, and opportunities to see Edgar were few and far between.
"Wait here. I'll make your favorite sandwiches and a few other dishes. You've lost weight this semester, and it breaks my heart to see you like this," Edgar said, his eyes welling with tears. His affection for Vivian was like that of a loving grandfather.
At the mention of sandwiches, Vivian's face lit up. "Let me help you make them."
"No, you don't need to. While you're home, your only job is to rest. I've already bought everything; it won't take long. Be a good girl and relax," Edgar insisted, not wanting her to do anything, especially with all the assignments and projects piling up at school. She had so much on her plate, leaving her drained and thinner than before.
"Alright," Vivian replied, not insisting further. She retreated to her bedroom, closed her eyes, and thought quietly of Manfred. Before long, she found herself standing in his room. He was asleep.
She moved quietly, careful not to disturb him, and simply stood there, observing him.
Years of poor nutrition had left him thin, but his features were undeniably striking. She figured his height was roughly six feet one inch, but she couldn't be sure without a tape measure.
She couldn't help but wonder why Manfred had been treated so unfairly.
She didn't stay long. After a few minutes, she left as quietly as she had come, leaving everything behind for him.
Just minutes after she left, Manfred stirred. It was rare for him to take a nap in the afternoon, but the comfort of the blanket Vivian had given him had been too inviting to resist. It felt like being wrapped in soft warmth, the heat seeping through him.
He opened his eyes and glanced toward the table. Two large bags sat beside it.
"She came?" He quickly got out of bed and opened the door, peering into the
yard. But there was no sign of her. She had already gone.
He frowned. He regretted having fallen into such a deep sleep.
Returning to the room, he walked over to the two bags and began to unpack them.
Inside were numerous items, some of which he had never seen before. At first, he had been surprised, but now, he had grown accustomed to accepting these unfamiliar things without much reaction.
An hour later, Vivian returned with a plate of sandwiches in hand.
