Chapter 1827

chapter1827

Vivian had read countless novels, and although her family had shielded her from the harshness of the world, she was not blind to its darker realities.

It suddenly made sense to her why Zea, though a cousin to Manfred's biological mother, had become his stepmother and treated him so cruelly. It was a reflection of human nature-selfish and merciless.

Vivian didn't want to delve further, knowing it would upset Manfred.

"Well, the cake is made with eggs, flour, butter, and chocolate..." Vivan began. Though she wasn't an expert in complex baking techniques, she had attended a few classes and knew the basics.

Manfred listened, intrigued by the unfamiliar ingredients and methods she described. He realized this cake was something special that only belonged to Vivian's world.

A dark gleam flickered in his eyes as the thought crossed his mind.

"I also brought you a few books. You mentioned you were interested in medical texts last time, so I thought you might enjoy this one. It has illustrations of every herb," Vivian said, remembering the books she had packed in her bag before she left.

Manfred opened the book and began flipping through it. The herb illustrations were clear and detailed, capturing every color and shape beautifully.

It was a far cry from the medical books he had seen years ago. This book would make identifying herbs much easier. His eyes brightened with excitement. "This is the best medical book I've ever seen."

"I'm leaving soon. Is there anything else you need? I can bring it when I come back the day after tomorrow," Vivian quickly asked.

Manfred shook his head. "Not at the moment."

As long as she came to see him, that was enough. He didn't need anything more.

Vivian nodded. "Alright, then I'll be going. Take good care of yourself."

"You too."

Once Vivian was out of sight, Manfred slowly withdrew his gaze. He turned back

to the medical book, intent on memorizing every poisonous herb.

Meanwhile, Randall and Zea had already woken up. After the doctor had left, they ordered all the maids out of the room. Despite the calming medicine prescribed, the two of them still felt uneasy.

"Randall, you heard that, right? There are two female ghosts—two! One... one is... No, I had a priest performa ritual for my cousin back then. She should have reincarnated by now. How could she still be here, turned into a vengeful spirit?" Zea's voice trembled, her eyes wide with terror.

It seemed everything Cyril had said was true. The priest's words were accurate. He had warned them that there was a ghost in the house, a vengeful spirit seeking revenge for her death.

For a moment, Randall was rattled, but he quickly regained his composure. "So what if it's a vengeful spirit? We can bring in some powerful priests. I don't believe we can't banish these vengeful spirits," he said coldly.

Seeing Randall remain calm, Zea began to settle down as well. He was right.

That woman had never been a match for her, even while she was alive. She had died at her hands, and even her son had suffered at her hands. There was no way she could harm her now.

But...
