Chapter 1902

chapter1902

Manfred smiled at Vivian and asked, "How about we go for a walk to help with digestion?"

Vivian nodded eagerly. "I need to walk off this fullness. I'm stuffed."

As soon as they stepped outside, curious glances followed them.

Manfred either didn't notice or didn't care. Vivian gave him a playful blink. "They probably think you're with a ghost again."

"Let them think what they want," he replied, indifferent to the whispers.

If being head of the Atkinson family meant keeping his distance from Vivian, the title held no meaning for him.

Vivian's eyes glinted with thought. "If I stay longer this time, maybe others will see me too. That might clear up some misunderstandings."

When Manfred heard that she might stay longer, his eyes sparkled with anticipation. "Really? You can stay longer?"

"I think so," Vivian replied, though uncertainty lingered in her voice. Last time, she managed only two or three days. This time, she felt it might be more.

Manfred's eyes shone brighter. "I'll need to leave Vlario soon for business. But we can go together if you're staying longer."

He paused, worried she might overthink it, then quickly added, "And we could visit some copper mirror stores outside the city. You're still looking for one, right?"

At the mention of the copper mirror, Vivian's face lit up. "That sounds great. I'd love to see what's beyond the city as well."

They shared a warm smile as they strolled through the vast Atkinson residence, passing the occasional maid. Vivian would fall silent, but Manfred kept talking, unfazed.

After a long walk around the mansion, Vivian began to feel tired.

Glen hurried over as they approached their room. He grabbed Manfred's arm. His face was full of concern. "Manfred, are you... are you alright?"

Manfred chuckled softly. "Grandpa, I'm perfectly fine."

This was the first time he felt truly happy in over a year. And he found himself looking forward to the idea of leaving Vlario to handle official business.

Glen's eyes reddened as he studied his grandson. Manfred looked healthy speaking with ease and showing no signs of illness. It was

unthinkable that he might be

suffering from mental illness again.

Vivian, standing quietly beside them, felt tears welling up. Thoughts of Janine and Edgar filled her mind.

"Then you... you..." Glen hesitated, wanting to ask about the hallucinations but unsure how without sounding too blunt or frightening Manfred. Yet, not asking gnawed at his worries.

Just then, Alger arrived.

Yawning, Alger appeared drowsy, clearly pulled from sleep by Glen's maids. His face showed mild confusion but no panic. If Manfred's condition had worsened, so be it-Manfred's spirit was strong. But voicing that would only invite Glen's scolding.

Alger yawned again, then froze, eyes widening in disbelief. He stared at the woman beside Manfred.

Dressed eccentrically and strikingly beautiful, her presence was

ver

otherworldly. Manfred looked at her

with warmth and affection.

Alger, still in shock, muttered the most unprofessional question of his career, "Are

you... human or ghost?"
