Chapter 1915
chapter1915
Alger said, "This is simple. Just tell everyone that Vivian is my mentee, and I will move in with them today."
"Mentee?" Both Glen and Manfred echoed in unison.
Vivian's eyes lit up. "That works perfectly. Mr. Marshman is a wanderer, a man of the world, and people from the world don't care much for formalities. This identity would be perfect."
However, Manfred frowned. "I'll be leaving Vlario in two days on business, and Vivian will be accompanying me. It would be inconvenient for Mr. Marshman Senior to be following us around," Manfred said, not wanting Alger to be in the
way.
"You're right. It might be a bit inconvenient." Alger, with his keen insight, immediately understood that Manfred didn't want him around, and he inwardly rolled his eyes.
However, he had no intention of interfering with their time together. Although Alger had many questions he wanted to ask Vivian, he decided to take his time. There would be plenty of days ahead to ask her all he needed to know.
Glen's eyes gleamed with a sudden idea. "If you want Vivian to go out with you in a proper manner, having Alger's mentee as her identity works well. It gives her status and commands respect. But she still needs another title. How about... we publicly say that she is your betrothed fiancée from childhood?"
Glen thought to himself, "Manfred, as your grandfather, this is the least I could do for you."
Vivian froze. Manfred was also taken aback, his eyes briefly flashing with excitement.
"Fiancée? That might affect your marriage prospects. You might..." Vivian hesitated, worried she might delay Manfred's plan for marriage.
Manfred's lips pressed together as he thought for a moment.
However, Glen reassured them both. "It won't affect anything. Manfred isn't betrothed yet. Let's just go with this."
He gave Alger a look, and Alger immediately understood. "Yes, it won't affect anything."
"Then it's settled," Manfred said, his gaze fixed on Vivian. He realized it was time to carefully plan how to express his feelings without startling her.
Vivian saw the determination in Manfred's eyes and finally agreed. "Alright."
"This is the insignia of our sect. In fact, our sect only has me now, and I haven't taken in any disciples over the years. With the identity I've arranged for you, as long as I say you are my mentee, no one will question it. Keep this insignia, and you can use it for whatever you need," Alger said, handing over an emerald-carved insignia.
The insignia was old-fashioned, with a noticeable weight in her hand. The carving
on it was intricate and rare, making it unique.
Vivian thanked him before carefully tucking the insignia away. She then continued talking with Alger, who had many questions, but they all centered around negative items. Vivian patiently answered each one.
Meanwhile, Manfred and Glen were talking in hushed tones.
"I can tell what you're thinking. After all, you are my most beloved
grandson. I support whatever
decision you make, but I noticed that
Vivian doesn't seem to have
romantic feelings for you yet.
"You'll need to work harder, though. Strive to keep her by your side and have her accompany you for the rest of your life," Glen said, his words calculated.
Manfred's expression remained neutral, his thoughts impossible to read. "I respect her decisions."
If Vivian didn't want to stay, he would never force her. She had her family and a brilliant life waiting for her in her own world.
Simply meeting her in this life was enough for him. Life was long, and he hoped that, in Vivian's heart, his presence would be a pleasant memory-unmarked by regret.
